Got dropped off at Nobska Light to start a 5 miler with my neighbor from Falmouth. When we arrived we were ‘in line’ to take a picture of ourselves with the beautiful lighthouse as our backdrop. We could have driven ourselves to the site- there are a few parking spots- but we didn’t want to have to drive back to pick up a car after our long walk. The view of Nobska is beautiful and the view FROM the lighthouse is beautiful. Well worth the visit!See more..
4.5Edgartown Lighthouse(609 reviews) - Destination goal for Edgartown. Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Lighthouses
The Martha's Vineyard Museum is privileged to be the steward of three of the Island's lighthouses. The East Chop, Edgartown, and Gay Head lighthouses are not only historic reminders of a bygone age, but are working beacons that still send a light out into the night. Beyond their important functional role, these structures also offer visitors spectacular views of the breathtaking beauty of Vineyard Sound, the simple elegance of Edgartown Harbor & Chappaquiddick, and the majestic cliffs of Aquinnah. Major renovations completed in 2007, including installation of a staircase to the lantern room, allow the interior of the Edgartown Light to be open to visitors. A lighthouse keeper will be available and the doors will be open during designated hours. Parking is available, but limited, on North Water Street. The Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) busses drop off on Church Street in Edgartown. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the lighthouse from this location.See more..
Free tours of the light are normally offered from May to October. This year the light will be open on Sundays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Going up into the tower may require masks or be suspended because of COVID19 limitations. Visit the Nauset Light Preservation Society website, nausetlight.org, or Facebook page for updates.See more..

5.0Great Point Light(193 reviews) - Definitely worth the visit but requires planning Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Lighthouses
Towering more than 60 feet, this historic lighthouse was established in 1784, destroyed in 1984 and rebuilt in 1986. Located on the Coskata Coatue Wildlife Refuge. You can get a tour of the lighthouse if you join one of the Trustees of Reservations guided natural history tours depending on the time of year and access to the lighthouse. Beach access is limited during storms and high tides. Always check the local Great Point tides and never drive through water!See more..
4.5Scituate Lighthouse(170 reviews) - Great walk from the Cole Parkway parking area Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
Great walk from the big parking lot in Scituate Harbor (near the gazebo on Cole Parkway) along the Harbor Walk (by Museum Beach) to Lighthouse Rd. Lots of sights along the way. If you have small children or don't want to walk this distance, there is a decent parking area that was not full (and free) near the light house. We went during the week in August late afternoon and there was available parking.See more..
If you're in need of a romantic spot to sit and watch a sunset, have I got the recommendation for you! Chandler Hovey Park and Marblehead Lighthouse is a perfect spot in Marblehead Neck to take in the view of the Marblehead historic district shoreline and the surrounding bay and ocean. There are benches scattered around (making it ideal for social distancing) and just be sure to watch your step if you're climbing out to a bench with less even ground. Assuming it wasn’t windy, you could get some clam chowder or sandwiches and have a nice little picnic. We were there the weekend before Memorial Day and saw a fisherman and a handful of other small groups or couples, but not many people at all. The drive to the park will take you past some remarkable houses in Marblehead Neck. There's parking though not a whole lot of it (probably for 30 cars or so) and the bathrooms were locked, but if you're just searching for a beautiful viewpoint, you won't be disappointed.See more..
From the year that the beacon was first lit in 1838, this historic lighthouse, located at the entrance of Mattapoisett Harbor, is still in operation today.See more..
Book your launch ride ahead on the Thacher Island website, so you don't miss the unique experience of exploring the twin-lighthouses island a mile off shore from Rockport. Climb the North Lighthouse or stroll the tree shaded bower of Anne's Way to the south end of this little slice of heaven. Then return the east or west shore path. Bring whatever you might need ( like water or a snack) and be prepared to carry out you water bottles and bags. There are no 'amenities' which is why it's unspoiled.See more..

The Newburyport Harbor Front Range Light is often overlooked because it’s not a plainly visible, especially from the street, as the Newburyport Harbor Rear Range Light, which was renamed Newburyport Lighthouse when it became privately owned, is closer to the street and much taller, so it gets most of the attention. This range light is located on the USCG Station on the other side of the driveway to the parking lot out behind the rear range light. The line-up of the two was a navigational aid for boats and ships coming up the river. When this range light was moved in the 1950’s, it underwent renovations. The 15-foot steel tower was capped with a new 20-foot wooden tower. Due to its short height, it's in the bug light category. For me, no trip to Newburyport is complete with a visit to view the two lighthouses in one stop. PHOTO TIP: If the barrel of your camera lens is small enough, put it through an opening in the chain link fence, and you can get an unobstructed-view photo. I rate Newburyport Harbor Front Range Light at 4.0 and can recommend viewing it when visiting the nearby Newburyport Harbor Rear Range Light a/k/a Newburyport Lighthouse as well as the Range Light Community Sculpture Garden at the art association. All are very close to each other. The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews.
