We were in Boston for a cruise so we were looking for something different to do. We found Sacco’s Candlepin bowling and decided to give it a shot. We stayed downtown Boston so after a $20 & a 20 minute Uber ride we showed up Sacco’s. Walking in was like traveling back in time. This place reminds me of the bowling alley I grew up in 40 years ago. The staff went above and beyond to help us keep score, order food and make us feel like family. Visited the Mohegan Bowl and Lasertron today for the first time. As an adult with a shoulder injury I can't bowl but the new 6 lanes of 10Pin looked sweet and I had fun watching the others play. Really state of the art facility. Extremely clean - even the restrooms which was a nice surprise. Played the Laser Tag - was awesome. Again, state of the art game program. Staff really skilled and friendly. Thin crust pizza was tasty and they serve beer on tap - both reasonably priced. In spite of the alcohol it is a very family oriented so don't be put off by that. They have renovated and Ed, the owner took the time to show me the almost completed party/meeting rooms that they will be have ready for group fun. We discussed the evening with Debbie and Joe (the owners). They accommodated us in every way. We rented out the lanes for our party. We brought in our caterer. Debbie decorated with balloons and lights, set up the tables with table cloths and chairs. We had an open bar and the bartenders were great. They put colored pins on each lane and we gave out lottery scratchers to those people getting strikes. We thought it was fantastic and more importantly our guests mingled with each other and had a ball. We can't say enough good things about this experience.See more..

This is a candlepin bowling alley, which is rather different than standard ten-pin bowling. The pins are thinner and you get three balls per frame--and they are about the size of a softball (but hard). My wife and I find it to be a lot of fun, as it takes strength out of play as a factor, which makes it more competitive for us. They have Cosmic Bowling on weekends, which has special glow in the dark lighting (which we did). We enjoy trying this variant of bowling when we are in New England. It's totally old school with well-maintained lanes, exclusively candlepin bowling, using the original smaller bowling balls, 3 tries per frame. The person on duty kindly explained how to keep score and our three generations had a blast. It's a lot easier for the youngsters to heave a lighter ball and be super competitive with the adults. We used the bumpers in the gutters, which helped us all a lot, since you can bank the ball off when picking up spares. They offer inexpensive snacks, souvenirs and arcade and even have party rooms. This would be a great place for a birthday party at any age. On Friday & Saturday nights, they have cosmic bowling with rock music & light show, great fun for a date or for families with older kids.
