    What a wonderful treat ! Visited the Museum during the Madeira Feast of the Blessed Sacrament. Beautiful garden cafe area with attention to detail in the preservation of the heritage of the Madeiran culture. A bit off the beaten track, hours are limited. Call ahead to check times / go online. Would be a nice addition following a Whaling Museum visit, then dinner at one of the many Portuguese restaurants in the area. See more..

    The Robins features a larger than expected collection and a welcoming knowledgeable staff. A section is devoted to a twelve thousand year old site in northern Maine, which is the oldest in New England. At least one member of our group visited this site during one of the excavations. The Vail site is the topic of at least one Gramly book, and is also described in a book by Bourque. Anther display explains various techniques used to date artifacts. Hours are very limited and there is free parking across the street. You could request a tour. See more..
