  1. 4.5 The Big E (634 reviews)
    - One of the Better State Fairs
    Sunday: Cultural Events

I've been to many state fairs over the years and this one rates towards the best. We went on a Monday and we were grateful that we did as it was a traffic nightmare so I can't imagine how bad it is on the weekend. The parking is painless and run well and reasonably priced. There is plenty to do and it's like visiting six state fairs in one which is pretty cool. The food is good and reasonably priced for a state fair. The ag exhibits are plentiful, there a plenty of rides for the kiddos and the state capitols and vintage village were interesting with plenty of free entertainment at the main pavilion. We all had a lot of fun here. See more..

The colorful and often exciting history of Topsfield Fair began in 1818 when the Essex Agricultural Society, the non-profit organization that owns the Topsfield Fair, was officially granted a charter on June 12th of that year. Topsfield Fairgrounds sits on the former Treadwell Farm property. Dr. John Goodhue Treadwell of Salem bequeathed the farm to the Agricultural Society in 1858 for the "promotion of the science of agriculture." We are connecting agriculture to you! See more..

    - NEVER disappoints!
Spent More than 3 hours Cultural Events
This is our 6th year taking part. I believe it's the 14th annual though. Country Roads Christmas is an experience. It takes place in multiple towns and multiple businesses. Go to one, get a map and have a ball. We buy so many xmas gifts and special things for ourselves. Each business has treats and coffee and cider. The people are fantastic. Like visiting relatives. A different world....a wonderful world. We look forward to this every single year. You just have to go!! We shop and visit from 8 til 5. It runs all weekend. See more..
