We took the kids here for the fall hayride. It was a fun tour of the orchards, with a chance to see some of the operations. The kids loved it and loved finishing up with some fresh donuts. The produce was great quality and the employees were all very friendly.See more..

4.5Amherst Farmers' Market(24 reviews) - A weekly favorite and worth a visit! Spent < 1 hour Farmers Markets
Amherst Farmers' Market is the longest running market in the area. Started in 1972 by a small group of farmers, the market has expanded to over 40 vendors and includes live music and delicious locally grown and prepared foods. The Pioneer Valley is known for the abundance of farms and good quality local food, so come check it out and experience what has been rated Best of the Valley for 5 years!See more..
If you live in Middleton, you know Farmer Brown's. That delicious smell as you drive anywhere near it of fresh soups!! This store is wonderful. They have 8 different types of hot fresh soup everyday to choose from along with a huge salad bar where everything is fresh. There's a full deli and vegetable section along with great ideas and pre made stuff for last minute dinners. It is on the pricey side, but that's what you get when everything is fresh and you're at a local store. My only negative comment about this place is the chicken breast. Although all other meats I have bought there are good, the chicken breast have always been tough and taste rubbery when cooked. I've tried to buy them three different occasions and had the same issue. Must be the chicken itself. All and all this place is awesome!!!See more..
A trip out to Upinngil Farm in Gill, Ma. is something like stepping into a Currier and Ives painting. The scenery is beautiful and the landscape is dotted with small dairy farms and rolling hills. Upinngil Farm offers PYO strawberries in season. There is a small farmstand that offers the usual fresh produce but around the corner is an inside farmstore. On the day I visited, I could stand in the back door and look out onto a garden of beautiful flowers and just a few feet away was a herd of cows and then the hills. They offer a free bouquet of Peonies for 10 min, of weeding. Or purchase 2 bags of beautiful salad greens and pick a free bouquet. They offer cheese made from their own cows, milk, cream, pastries, jams made from their berries and several other products. This isn't the biggest or the fanciest farmstore that I've ever been to but it is one of the nicest. It's a great place to decompress.See more..

4.5Newburyport Farmers' Market(6 reviews) - Outstanding, diverse items, and fun! Spent < 1 hour Farmers Markets I enjoy farmers markets but often find them overpriced. Newburyport's is outstanding with plentiful items for every budget, great music, and lots of free parking (across the street or lot in back). Whether it is enjoying a loaf of maple walnut banana bread from When Pigs Fly, buying a dinosaur donut or other delicious pastry from Figs, being amazed by strawberry goat cheese ravioli from Valenti Farm, having an array of fresh veggies and fruit at your fingertips, or enjoying local artisans, this market has something for everyone. Open year-round on Sundays from 9am to 1pm (less so in the winter) in front of the Tannery market. Go!! You won't be disappointed. See more..

5.0The Garden School(1 review) - Come and Learn, Volunteer, or Shop too! Farmers Markets
The Garden School is simply and amazing place. You can shop at the Farm Stand—which is the school’s very own Farmers Market right here in your home town, or you can come and volunteer. The Garden School is designed for young adults and teenagers to come and learn farming in real time within their own community. The farm stand teaches youth about business, interaction with the public, selling produce and flowers and customer service. They can also learn how to run a small farm. Working just a few hours per week, one can gain valuable hands-on experience on a real community garden/farm working whatever aspect they choose or they could learn the entire operation. Jon and Ben who run the Garden School are fantastic and patient teachers who love working with our youth and love what they are doing providing a valuable service to this community. The Farm Stand is a great alternative to mass made/chemistry laden produce. This is a place to buy truly fresh picked (that morning or maybe right then as you are buying) produce and flowers grown the all natural way like you would do in your own backyard garden. You can See, Smell and Taste the difference and it cannot get any fresher! Check out my photos and you will see what I am talking about. This is my go to place to volunteer. It is outdoors in the fresh air and it is an absolutely wonderful group of people and an outstanding garden and food stand.See more..
