We did the "Gap" white water rafting with level 2 to 3 rapids. We had a great time on Sunday. We did the gap tour since we had some tweens in the group. I felt our guide, Bob, was outstanding and reassuring to people of all ages in the group. He was engaging with the 13 year olds as well as the adults, and even learned the names of the kids from the raft our friends were on. It’s obvious Bob knows the river like the back of his hand and seemed to guide the boat with great skill, while also watching out for the other two rafts on our trip. My kids are already looking forward to next year when we will try the more advanced trip. See more..

    Coast to Coast Paddle image
I have done several off season guided paddles with Coast to Coast and every one of them has been excellent! The Misery Island paddle and hike was one of my favorites yet! I’m from the North Shore and paddle on my own frequently. I started doing off seasons paddles to keep up my favorite hobby year round and I’m never disappointed! I’ve experienced many new places and some I have visited before, but through a new lens. Aaron and Ashley are friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and low-key. They keep the group together while accommodating paddlers of all abilities. Coast to Coast has become an essential part of my off-season routine; helping me through the long New England Winter! 6. 4.5 Nashoba Paddler (14 reviews)
    - Best canoeing around.

    Nashoba Paddler image
We've been to many canoeing venues in the area. Nashoba Paddlers, by far, the best! We canoed upriver and barely passed another human and along the banks, there's walking paths and not much more. Unlike other canoe sites, it is undeveloped along the banks. You can almost imagine what the first settlers saw when they arrived in the new land. Definitely check it out! See more..

Kayaking at Nantasket bay is a great gateway to spend a nice half day, at 45 mins from Boston. in just a couple of hours we explored the bay around " world' s end", did a bit of trekking, paddled to Hingham yacht club and Langley island, in addition to a couple of swims. landscape was various and amazing. we didn't paddle to the estuary of the river, which we plan to do next time and is supposed to be very nice. parking is just next to the kayak center and free. The paddling was very safe since the area is protected by the land and there are no waves. The guy of the kayak center has been very helpful in giving us all the advice and a waterproof bag for our personal stuff. At the end we crossed the street and relaxed a bit on nanantsket beach and had a lunch in one of the bars facing the beach. See more..

My husband and I did the Onset Bay tour. Our guide, Christine Tufts, was really great. This was our first time ocean kayaking and we told her our mission was to see how we liked it and whether or not we would like to invest in kayaks. She took us to various locations so we could test out our skills. There are many tours so if we decide to do another one, we would definitely ask for her. See more..

  10. 5.0 Norton Kayak Company (3 reviews)
    - Quiet Reservoir, Friendly & Knowledgeable Guide
Gear Rentals • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Norton Kayak Company image
Dave was great in scheduling (and rescheduling for weather!) our trip, and great once we were on the water. There was a talk on safety in the beginning which wasn't overbearing. We kayaked around Norton Reservoir and were free to go at our own pace. The group size was about 8 -- he introduced everyone at the beginning of the trip. Dave knows the local area very well, and he was able to share lots of information about the reservoir and town of Norton. He seems to like his job. The water is shallow, so it wasn't too cold -- it warms up quickly. Price was reasonable, $60 regularly, but look for deals. Wear sunscreen on your legs! See more..

  13. 1.0 Nemasket Kayak Center (1 review)
    - Kayak rentals on the side of a highway.

There was misunderstanding when we reserved the kayak rental. I was under the impression that we were getting to go on a tour, but that was not the case, as we were rudely told when we got there. We were given our kayaks and sent on our way solo to paddle along a busy river's edge. I wouldn't have minded the misunderstanding if they were more pleasant. Also, trying to get the boats in the water was challenging and I was yelled at that I might cut my feet if I take my shoes off, which is what happened because there was glass in the mud. Eventually, the smell of fried foods from the overabundance of restaurants and strip malls and the noise of traffic diminished as we traveled further away from the major roadways. The river itself was beautiful and I would give this business a better review if they were up front about expectations of the tour, if the staff was friendlier, and if the task of getting in and out of the river wasn't so difficult.
