Great experience close to Boston

Kayaking at Nantasket bay is a great gateway to spend a nice half day, at 45 mins from Boston. in just a couple of hours we explored the bay around " world' s end", did a bit of trekking, paddled to Hingham yacht club and Langley island, in addition to a couple of swims. landscape was various and amazing. we didn't paddle to the estuary of the river, which we plan to do next time and is supposed to be very nice. parking is just next to the kayak center and free. The paddling was very safe since the area is protected by the land and there are no waves. The guy of the kayak center has been very helpful in giving us all the advice and a waterproof bag for our personal stuff. At the end we crossed the street and relaxed a bit on nanantsket beach and had a lunch in one of the bars facing the beach.

    Excellent experience at Nantasket Kayak
I had plans to meet a friend at Nantasket Kayak to try Standup Paddleboarding for the first time at 3:30 but due to traffic didn't get there til 4:55. Knowing they closed at 5 I asked the kid there, Patty, if there was any chance they were staying open late that day. Without hesitation he said no problem and let us go out for almost 2 hours after they closed! The scenery was beautiful and the customer service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this place, especially if Patty is working!

    Pleasantly surprised
Was a great August day in area so decided to try to find some outdoor activity other than swimming that was relatively cheap. Had done some flat-water kayaking in Colorado so decided to look into something similar on the South Shore. Found Nantasket Kayaks at Nantasket Beach (Hull) nearby and decided to give them a try. Was very pleased. Venue is flat-water behind ocean-facing beach. Although there are many homes on the waters, you don't get the feeling it's wall-to-wall housing, especially as you get further away from the put in point. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, offering quick instruction (and I'm sure in the process how much you needed). Interesting aspect about waters is it can be fun to make the event anything from an hour to a day depending on how far you want to go and how much time you want to spend. Although I didn't put-in it appears there are some public accessible landing spots if you wanted to picnic (might confirm with staff before you do). Only advice I can think of is (1) to be up to date on tides so you don't find you're fighting them on way home, (2) park at the lot in front of the dock, and (3) save some time to ride the carousel across the street.
