    Justin Price is an excellent guide. He took me and my friend out for some tarpon fly fishing. We are just learning to fly fish and Justin was patient and encouraging the whole trip. He is excellent in the water and will make sure you catch a fish. He knows so much about the water and the species we are trying to catch. I believe that in order to enjoy a day of fishing, the client and guide needs to have a good relationship. Justin was very approachable and answered all our questions about fly fishing.     My rather large family booked a kayak and paddle board tour of Johns Pass with Mad Beach. I was surprised that we were starting in the intracoastal but our fabulous guide, Symphony, explained that the water was calmer and thus the trip easier, particularly with little ones. We paddled up to the sandbar and through the mangrove islands in the Pass. It was beautiful. Saw lots of dolphins and the little bird cove we went through was like a private oasis. Symphony was kind and patient with us, pointing out sea life, (the kids couldn't get over the jumping fish!) and all around gave us a great experience that the family is still talking about.     We had a great morning paddling down the Tolomato River with Ben, our guide who was friendly, patient and informative! He guided us safely through some very shallow areas as well as those with many oyster beds. There were 12 kayaks so he had his hands full but made it fun and answered all our questions and then some! One thing that we loved is that he is native to that area so there wasn't one thing he didn't know. He kept everything so interesting with the landmarks that we would pass to the sea life that we pulled out of the water when we parked in the sandbar! We saw so many dolphins playing around our boat.     Just went on a 2 hour boat tour of the Homosassa River on the Nature Coast of Florida with 18 friends. $20 per person. The Captain was so helpful with our mobility impaired friend, gently helping her on/off the dock and boat. The narrator had many stories and nature facts throughout the cruise. The ride is slow and easy, just perfect for our "retirement age" ladies group. Between narration they played party music to sing and dance to. Afterwards we had dinner at the Seagrass Waterfront Resort, at the marina where we docked. Because we went on the cruise, we had a special discounted menu including "adult beverage" for $19 each. Food was great! The cruise runs Wednesdays through Sundays. You can rent the whole boat or just join a smaller group. This is perfect for families, couples, and friends who want a pleasant afternoon on the water but still able to hear yourselves talk. However being a local and fishing and boating with a lot of locals I can't express what an amazing Charter Service this is. I have gone on charters all over, from Maine to the Keys, from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta. I have never been around such a professional team and knowledgeable people as I have with Scales N Tales. We left the Dock at 9:30am and by 12pm we limited out on our catch. Three of the five in our group had never chartered before and we came back with over 125lbs of Grouper, amongst only 10 fish. They were so professional and knowledgeable I will never Charter any boat unless it's with them.     This is a large and very varied park. All of which is immaculate. We came for a nice open-air walk, no golfing this trip. Although most people were not wearing makes, it was a nice breezy day and you could always move away from people. It is such a calm and happy place. From the father/son flying a kite, people playing in the dog run with their dogs, picnics under the pavillions to people using watercraft. Everyone is enjoying themselves. So many things to do here. They have the park separated so the little dogs won't be intimadated by the big dogs. However, the water is on the large dog side. For most dogs this is the best part as they can run around the big pond, swim, play fetch, and then roll around in the sand. If you call a very nice man answers the phone "water taxi" and then proceeds to tell you that until the docks are rebuilt, there's no place for the water taxi to land. That makes sense.     I have fished with Capt Matt Santiago several times over the past 10 years and I've always had a great experience and caught some great fish. This trip was no exception. I booked 2 days and the bite was on fire!! The 1st day we caught 2 tarpon about 50 lbs each and lost a BIG ONE estimated about 150lbs - unfortunately the hook pulled after about a 10 minute fight and a few incredible jumps. We also caught a nice cobia, snapper and grouper that came home for dinner. 2nd day we targeted redfish and the action was non-stop with double and triple headers of nice fish averaging 24-30". I lost count, but we probably caught 20 or 30 redfish. We caught a ton of great fish and Capt Matt is a great guy to fish with, not to mention, his new boat (Sabalo 27) is absolutely incredible.      What a day of fishing! Capt Ray knows his stuff and put us on fish. Reds, drum, snook, tarpon and seatrout. Capt Ray kept us in stitches too with his jokes and stories. Not a dull moment to the day. What a place too! if you've never been to the 10,000 Islands you haven't fished. We saw dolphins, manatees, sharks, jumping eagle rays and hundreds species of shore birds. This place is alive and crawling with wildlife! Great boat and excellent tackle. See more..
