The "handsome guys" Jack and Corey kept us safe in the UTV. Alissa, Noah, and Joseph were wonderful as well, made us all feel comfortable for each of the 3 drops. River Rafting & Tubing • 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Wildwater Rafting - Ocoee image
We loved the Ocoee combo that we did this weekend with 9 friends. We were split into two rafts with strangers, but I think if we had 10, we would have been able to split into 2 rafts without strangers. Loved our guide Ryan and he made sure we had a great time! We were kinda bummed that the cameras malfunction when we had some pretty epic pics at the Olympic section, but other than that all pics turned out great! Highly recommend doing the combo and not just one portion of the Ocoee- it would be too short just do to one! See more..

    - Great trails and scenic lakes
Thursday: 6:00 AM - 8:15 PM Spent 2-3 hours Parks
    Shelby Farms Park image
We visited Shelby Farms Park several times during our last visit to Memphis. There are hiking trails, a small eating place, gift store, water activities, and during the holidays a drive-through light show for a fee. Our hike along the Chickasaw Trail took us past the Disc Golf Course and several lakes and ponds. It was well marked and maintained, and many of the trees and brushes were also marked with ID tags/plates. One evening, we paid the nominal fee to drive through a circuit festooned with Christmas-like lights with non-denominational motifs. It was not awe inspiring, but it made for a fun drive, which we all enjoyed. See more..

    - Serene Views
    Thursday: 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium image
Visited on a beautiful sunny day in early Spring. Just me and my doggie. It's a $5 entrance, follow the path to parking and from there you have several trails to take. I took the Lakeside Trail all the way through, it really is 1 hr and 30 minutes trail walk. And I especially took my time stopping and admiring the peaceful views. Once I got back to the parking lot I took a few steps down to see the dam waterfall. Although it's called a "park" it truly is more than that, it's the spot for hiking and biking, a true gem of this city. Moved here 4 months ago, been here twice and will definitely be a frequent spot for me. Can't wait to see it in all 4 seasons but this place has a very tranquil feel. There's also a section to view animals but dogs are not allowed, so I didn't go through it this time. See more..

  24. 4.5 Tennessee Riverpark (457 reviews)
    - Beautiful area next to the aquarium
    Parks • Hiking Trails
    Tennessee Riverpark image
We had a couple of hours to spare before heading into the aquarium so we decided to check this place out. We were there on a Saturday and there were vendors everywhere selling stuff. We bought homemade cookies which were amazing! The walk by the river was absolutely beautiful and the murals down the stairs was a nice surprise. We didn't have time to walk the whole thing but we did love what we saw. There is no free parking here so you'll have to park in paid lots or in a parking garage and walk over. At least it's free to walk around. I would definitely visit again and next time I plan to book a boat tour as well. See more..

  28. 5.0 Chimneys Picnic Area (344 reviews)
    - Awesome spot to stop and visit even if you're not picnicking
    Parks
    Chimneys Picnic Area image
I ended up in Chimneys Picnic Area because my husband and I were going to hike the Cove Hardwoods Nature Trail (our legs needed a break...the trail was disappointing after the massive hikes we'd already completed). The picnic area though was absolutely beautiful. Great sites to hang out for the day including picnic tables and grills. We were there Memorial Day weekend and at the trail head around 9am and people were already staking out spots for the day. So I would recommend going very early to get the prime spots along the stream. See more..

    Rock Island State Park image
This park is known for its cascading waterfalls and beautiful water. This park is great for fishing, but it is recommended that swimmers be weary of the dam, and waters of unknown depths due to possible deadly currents. Some of the nicest TNStatePark cabins available are in this park, along with many camping sites. Picnicking and freestyle kayaking are also enjoyed at this park. 31. 5.0 Adventureworks (321 reviews)
    - Most fun you can have in the woods with your clothes on
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Adventureworks image
We were on a roadtrip passing through Nashville and saw signs for zip-lining from the highway, which we followed with trepidation. Arrived at Adventureworks and Michael managed to fit us in between a couple of groups which was great as this was the only time we could have done it. The zip lining was obviously epic fun, but Michael was an absolute legend and the time I wasn't flying through the air I spent crying with laughter. Thank you for an epic afternoon! See more..

  34. 4.5 Andrew Johnson National Historic Site (290 reviews)
    - Great Presidential Site.
    Historic Sites • National Parks
Andrew Johnson National Historic Site image
We try to visit as many Presidential historic sites as possible and the Andrew Johnson National Historic site ranks up with the best of those we have seen. A small visitor's center tells the story of Johnson, his life, and presidency. But the grand jewel of the site is Johnson's home. Unfortunately, because of Covid we had to take the self-guided tour while the park ranger remained outside. However he was able to give us detailed information about Johnson and the home. He was one of the most knowledgeable employees of the park service we have encountered in our travels. We were shocked to learn that 80% of the furnishings in the home were indeed from the Johnson family. This is astonishing when compared to other homes of the time period. Definitely an enjoyable site that's not to be missed when in the area. See more..

12 or 13 ziplines, most in the treetops across the river in the Cherokee National Forest. A lot of steps to get up to some platforms but relatively easy for a fat old guy like me... zipping back and forth across the Pigeon River was a highlight. Final zip was 1/3 of a mile, across the river reaching speeds og 55-60 mph... excellent staff- total focus on safety... See more..

    - Awesome State Park

Fall Creek Falls State Park image
This park has so many things to do. It's one of the few TN state parks that has kept its swimming pool after covid shut downs. We enjoyed swimming there and at the base of Cane Creek Cascades. The nature center was very interesting and the visitor center had many souvenir items to choose from. Our 8 year old enjoyed 2 really nice playgrounds and we all enjoyed a picnic at the Falls overlook. We had dinner at the lodge restaurant that was superb. We had a great view of the lake and a beautiful sunset from our table. Although we arrived by 10am, we ran out of time to try a hike or do some fishing. Guess we'll just have to go back. As we drove out of the park at dusk, we came upon 3 deer playing in the road, oblivious to traffic or the need to move, so drive this park with caution for wildlife. One could easily spend a week here and not be bored. See more..

Cedars of Lebanon State Park is located in Wilson County and is part of the Cedars of Lebanon State Forest. The park is named for Eastern Red Cedar trees found throughout the area. The trees reminded early American settlers of the famed Biblical cedar forests that thrived across Mount Lebanon in what is now the Mediterranean area. Cedars of Lebanon became a state park in 1955. Eight miles of hiking trails meander through the cedar forests and glades. There are four trails in the park where you may catch a glimpse of fox, deer, squirrel, rabbits and turkey throughout the park. Picnicking is another popular activity. All picnic tables are equipped with grills and there are also 11 picnic shelters located throughout the park. Three of the picnic shelters can be reserved for a fee.
