    A definite must see
We detoured off the highway to check out this dam. We were very pleased with what we found! Only spent a few hours here, but definitely a must see. The winding, hilly roads amongst the forest is exciting to drive. There are lookouts/picnic areas above the dam which provide lovely views of the dam and of Norris Lake. Beautiful green blue water. There is a wonderful marina with all kinds of boats. You can rent houseboats here, too! Fishing was king the day we visited. So many coming and going from the lake and marina. Saw several great catches. The granite ridges and walls of the area provide a stunning backdrop! And trees and shrubs are covered in kudzu, making ethereal formations. Very cool. A little museum and gift shop, not open that day. Plenty of parking. Free. Several activities available. Hiking, trails, horseback riding, a pool, camping/cabins, fishing, boating. Highly recommend!

A week on a floating house at Flat Hollow Marina Lake Norris
We loved the experience of the house and lake. The marina close by was also great. Nice food and friendly servers. One small complaint is the staff at the shop. On one occasion a male and female staff member were in a heated argument in front of my young children hurling f bombs at each other. The manager / owner eventually stepped in as this had apparently been going on for hours according to staff. Unacceptable. On our last day when I tired to hand in my house keys at the office at 8:58 am on July 5 the young lady behind the counter barked at me that they were not open until 9 am. Another elderly staff member noticing my irritation intervened to thank us for our stay and wished us on our way. Seems like the grumpy Gary theme is rubbing off on staff. If you can overlook bad attitudes of a few staff the location is great. I’m on the fence.
