What a blast!! I’d been whitewater rafting before but my husband and two kids hadn’t. My 13 year old daughter was very nervous, I’m sure the other rafters heard her screams but she wants to try it again she had such a good time!! My 16 year old son wants to work for the company. He is hooked!! The bus ride made me nervous because it was filled but we wore masks and eyeglasses, used hand sanitizer, and then everyone got on their own rafts so that was fine. I can't say enough about this experience. The crew was so fun and exciting. They all had different fun outfits on and really seemed to love what they do. There was never a dull moment, even on the bus ride up the river they were telling stories and joking and laughing. We chose the extreme raft and were lucky enough to get the coolest, funniest and most knowledgeable guide on the river, Ewok! He took us down runs that none of the other rafts were going down and did a bunch of different moves and tricks with us. He was so personable and friendly. Outstanding experience! Our family of 4 went on the double run trips on June 2 and had the good fortune of having Nic as our guide for both runs! Nic is very experienced as he’s been a guide for 6 years and rafts for fun when not at work! Safety was the first priority and fun was next on the list. He had control of the raft throughout the trips and was able to steer us right into best parts of the rapids. He turned us at different points for equal splashing opportunities!! Each employee we came into contact with was nice. They keep all the rafts on each trip in a safe proximity in case a boat is in need. The bathroom and changing facilities were the nicest for any similar type outdoor experience business we’ve ever seen and we’ve been to 49 US states so that’s a huge compliment. The guides tell you exactly what to expect and how to maneuver everything to ensure everyone has a good time and also remain safe while doing so. Aaron has been our guide twice and he is very good. I would totally recommend Cherokee rafting in general if you want to try white water rafting and also I recommend Aaron as a guide but it did seem that all of their guides were good at what they do. We had enough people for two boats and the people in the other boat also had a good experience with Josh. This was our second trip with Big Creek Creek Expeditions. We took our grandkids two years ago and they had such a great time, that we rode again this past August. The staff and guides are so helpful and friendly. Last time we had Shane as a guide, and he was terrific at talking to our grandson who was a bit terrified as it was his first experience. Eat the first rapid, he was hooked. So this past August when we went, we requested Shane, but he was not available, so we had Jedi Mike as our guide. He was funny and reassuring. We loved the Ocoee combo that we did this weekend with 9 friends. We were split into two rafts with strangers, but I think if we had 10, we would have been able to split into 2 rafts without strangers. Loved our guide Ryan and he made sure we had a great time! We were kinda bummed that the cameras malfunction when we had some pretty epic pics at the Olympic section, but other than that all pics turned out great! This was my first time rafting on anything higher than a Class 2. I'm not a water sports person so was a little apprehensive but allowed my friend to talk me into it. After some healthy scare tactics on the way to the put-in, I felt the tension ease as we actually got on the river. I had an absolute blast on this trip. We did have a moment on a class 4 rapid in which we nearly capsized but our SUPERB guide Hannah expertly guided us and we miraculously exited the rapid all in the boat in dry!! 11/10 recommend her, she is so knowledgeable and passionate about the Asheville/Erwin area as well as its wilderness and rivers. The wife and I booked a tour with this company and it was amazing!!! We lucked out and got Maggie as a guide. OMG! You should request her. I would recommend her as a guide because she will allow you to do things things that most guides won’t try. We performed 360’s, drop surfings (we got pulled in 4 times at Double Suck which was truely an awesome experience) that just left other guides in awe. Took the mid Ocoee tour. It took about three hours. Six of us in the raft with the guide Ky. Ky knew the river really well and guided in a way that had us navigate it safely while still getting wet and having lots of excitement in an adventure on the river. The staff was all very friendly and we were happy to go with a family owned outfit rather than one of the large outfitters - this also saved us o about $20 per person! My 10 year old son and I went on the Lower Pigeon River family float with Lisa as our guide. It was the first time for both of us. We really wanted to experience rafting in the Smoky Mountains--it seems like the thing to do while you are in the area. Lisa was fantastic! She foreshadowed each section of the river so we knew what was coming up, which sections would be a little rougher, if we might have a little bump due to a rock, when to paddle, where it was going to be a calm section to jump out and swim if you wanted to, etc. I loved that they took our picture on the river so we could purchase it at the end. We have stayed at the Lake Ocoee Inn for the past, would be 5 years except for COVID, and taking the rafting trip down the lower portion of the ocoee. We bring our youth group each year in June as a treat and a great beginning to the summer. We have always enjoyed rafting with this company. They are always very friendly, and professional. Every guide we have had (Jimbo, Brad, Ginny etc.) has been amazing! The rooms at the Inn are always very clean and nice. The beds are extremely comfortable and it's a peacful area. Such an awesome trip!! If you are looking for quality, friendliness and a safe wild ride, you cant beat Carolina Ocoee. Our guide was Megan and we HIGHLY recommend her as your guide. She made our trip super fun and knew just how to tackle the rapids so that you definitely get soaked. Very knowledgeable and experienced guide! Here's a few tips we picked up: *If you want to get super soaked and have front action, ride in the front * If you want to stay dry(er) sit nearer to the back *Work together with paddling...watch the person next to you and make sure you are both rowing on her count. *Definitely take advantage of the swimming area during the trip, it cools you off and is just super relaxing to just float on your back downstream. *whoever your guide is, if you really want to get soaked, ask them if they can "surf" the boat...its really fun! We were on a couples trip and decided to go white water rafting for the first time. This was a great experience and thrilling activity. Mack was our guide and we all thought he was the best, with a lot of personality, jokes, great stories, and historical and river information that kept the trip interesting. The sign up process is easy, and you can fill out all forms prior to arriving, saving time. They give you all the equipment needed, and offer comprehensive safety training. We all felt confident after this training. The lower Pigeon river offers a great mix of floating, large and smaller rapids, and a beautiful scene for the trip. We were able to jump out at one point for a quick swim which was invigorating. We cannot wait to go again, and we would absolutely use NOC again. With our large group, we had several cancel on us during the planning phase of the trip and the staff just took it in stride. This was our second trip here. I planned a birthday trip for my sister in June. Jeffro was our guide for whitewater rafting. He was very knowledgeable of the river and a great instructor. We had some ladies that were rafting for the first time and a bit nervous; he put their fears at ease. Our cabin was beautiful and had a great deck to hangout on at night. However, the loft was only accessible by a vertical ladder, so some of the ladies had to sleep in the living room on the floor. The kitchen was missing a few utensils, but the friendly staff brought it to our cabin upon our request. We rode horses and did the high ropes course; both were excellent experiences. The resort is very secluded (which we enjoyed), but if you want to travel about 20 minutes to Blue Ridge, GA you’ll find nice restaurants and shops. We ended up going to the Blue Coyote bar after dinner and the live band was a blast!See more..
Our group had a great time rafting with Wahoo’s Adventures in Nolichucky Gorge within Cherokee National Forest. Water level was low but our guide CJ was very experienced and guided our raft smoothly through the rapids. He also shared information about the area and made the trip fun and informative. All guides are experienced and professional, and they try to give us a memorable experience. We saw blue heron, white egret, big bold eagle, Canadian geese, and lots of dragonflies along the way. We took our 4th trip down the middle section of the Ocoee River with the NOC. I am still amazed at how they can provide a different experience each time we raft with them. Jeremy, our raft guide, was tuned into our interest and provided the best trip we've had yet. He shared inforamtion about the river, the damns and how it all works. We made our reservations by phone this time and it was as breeze. The friendly, informative service representative was very helpful in getting us set for the following day. She reminded me the trips go rain or shine before finally booking the trip for us just be sure we understood our commitment. Arriving at the NOC checkin for the Ocoee, we were surprised by the new facilities. We checked in with a great, friendly crew, had our medical screening, signed our waivers, and were directed to the trip talk area. Support this small business!!! Guides are experienced and know every inch of the river and focus on keeping small groups. The boats are slightly smaller and more agile than the bigger commercial rafting companies in the area. My boyfriend and I booked last minute and they were more than accommodating. Our guide, Jordan, one of the owners, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, ecology, and movement of the river. If you are experienced and enjoy rafting, definitely do the full day trip, the Olympic rapids are SO much fun. The riverside lunch is catered by a local business and is one of the best I've had on a trip like this. 10/10 - would raft with this company again in a heartbeat.See more..

This was a fantastic choice for our family trip. Our family went white water rafting on the Watauga and it was so much fun for our little one. We booked via their website, which was really well laid out, and easy to navigate. It was very clear what ages were able to go on which trips, so I didn't have a hard time narrowing it down. Our guide was Mags and she was super great with the kids. The group that went up on the bus was kind of large so there were a bunch of rafts on the river at once; additionally, we ran into another raft crew so it was a little congested at some points, but the guides actually did a really great job making sure that everyone still had fun. Our group of 6 must have arrived at a busy time of the day, due to a large number of others guests already waiting when we arrived. At check-in, we were told we would more than likely be able to get on the next shuttle despite the large number of people waiting, but it became full, so we had to wait for the next one. It was supposed to return “shortly” from dropping off another load of guests, but shortly turned into an hour wait. However, we were able to sit down by the river in a shaded area during this time. Once the shuttle returned, transport was fairly smooth. I do feel like staff and operations were somewhat unorganized, but it got the job done. There was a very minimal safety briefing on the bus ride to the “put in” area, but no real instructions were needed. The river was very calm. My husband & I had a good time in our double, inflatable “Funyak” as we went down the Hiwassee River.See more..
