  1. 5.0 Jack Daniel's Distillery (7.278 reviews)
    - Great Distillery Tour
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Factory Tours

This is an outstanding distillery tour and yes you can sample the Tennessee Whiskey if you sign up for the proper tour. I do recommend signing up in advance as the tours can sell out. There is a gift shop that has some really great Jack Daniels items and not a bunch of cheap, Chinese stuff. I reviewed Jack Daniel's 4 and 1/2 years ago but it was stuck in TA's draft file. It's probably still valid. See more..
  2. 5.0 Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company (278 reviews)
    - Places you HAVE to visit in Lynchburg, TN
    Factory Tours
Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company image
Mr. Thomas who owns this business gives you a personal tour of his company. The tour is short in walking distance, as we were a bit surprised when we drove up to the small Cake and Candy Company. We enjoyed every minute of our tour. His cakes and candies are delicious, and we stocked up on them for friends and family. Mr. Thomas is a treasure trove of information about not only his sweet treats but also about TN. This was one of our favorite tours in all of Lynchburg. Although the taste testing wasn’t liquid, every minute of our visit was worth the trip. Don’t miss out on this tour! It’s free! See more..
  3. 4.5 Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation USA (35 reviews)
    - A really fun tour of "how it's made" Nissan.
    Saturday: Factory Tours
Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation USA image
Everybody knows that Nissan's are dependable and long lasting, same goes for their factory tour. Tours are Tuesdays and Thursdays and you must call ahead to make a reservation however this is definitely something to see and is a no charge attraction. It takes a couple of hours to see what they permit you to see but it's a couple hours well spent. When you first arrive, you park in the employee parking lot, only after your are confirmed and buzzed in. Once you find parking you can begin the trek to the plant. If you're someone who is not very mobile or is restricted in mobility, this tour is not for you. You must walk quite a ways in/out and some during. Once inside you will watch a short clip on how Nissan got it's start. You will then be provided a hard hat, ear plugs and safety goggles where you will then be loaded onto an open trolley of sorts that will shuttle you around the plant. You see really neat things while on this tour from the paint department to the assembly and stamping. You will also receive a lot of information and statistics pertaining to the Nissan brand and the plant via provided headphones. You cant imagine what hard work goes into making each and every car on the market. You can even see what parts are made by humans and which are made by robots. I believe there may be an age limit when reserving plant tours, I know we saw no children and I wouldn't advise taking yours, this is definitely a tour for the mature. You will be really close to welding, grinding/stamping machines, we even had a really large crane hoisting things over our heads while on the tour, I remember thinking this hard hat seems silly when watching the million tons relying on a mechanical crane being hoisted over my head, lol. Overall, highly recommended tour, I've been on no other like it. See more..
  4. 5.0 Horsin Around (8 reviews)
    - What Amazing Artists
    Factory Tours
    Horsin Around image
We visited Horsin' Around with our 10-year old granddaughter. Carvers come from all over the country to spend weeks or months carving and restoring (mostly carousel animals). The founder of the business, Bud Ellis, was there to show us around and was great with the kids. All the carvers took time to explain the process and what they were doing. We were honored to have Bud accompany us to the Carousel in Coolidge Park in Chattanooga to see (and ride) the finished product in action. Here's the link: http://www.horsin-around.net/ See more..
  5. 4.0 Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill (3 reviews)
    - Must see (in season)...a working Sorghum Mill
    Factory Tours
    Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill image
What a great way to see a working sorghum mill. Sorghum is a super grain high in protein, rich in antioxidants and naturally gluten-free. This is a working mill and open selected dates in September and October during the annual Sorghum harvest. Mark and his family will be happy to show you the sorghum extracting and cooking process as well as show you around their mill. They produce a great product which is available year round at local markets and on their website. It is a must see when on the Cumberland plateau or in the Muddy Pond community during the season. FYI, you can also stop by in town and pick up a bottle if you are traveling outside harvest time. If you are fortunate enough to visit during production they have fresh baked Amish-Mennonite goodies available for sale. See more..
