Took the mid Ocoee tour. It took about three hours. Six of us in the raft with the guide Ky. Ky knew the river really well and guided in a way that had us navigate it safely while still getting wet and having lots of excitement in an adventure on the river. The staff was all very friendly and we were happy to go with a family owned outfit rather than one of the large outfitters - this also saved us o about $20 per person! This is a first class white water rafting team. The booking team is responsive and courteous. The guides are professional and personable. The overall experience was amazing. Recommend Matt as a guide, he has a great demeanor with all ages, explained what to expect prior to each set of rapids and provided clear and concise directions to allow the raft to get the best experience. A friend and I had a perfect day on the Duck River. The folks at Higher Pursuits are knowledgeable, professional and VERY customer oriented. We have used other outfitters on the Duck and other rivers and Higher Pursuits are in an elite class of their own. We were in Tennessee on the third day of a mostly spontaneous road trip and discovered that Tennessee has so much water! We determined that we should Kayak and found Canoe the Caney based on other positive reviews. We were not disappointed. We were surprised to find that the 9-mile "tour" we booked did not actually include a guide, but we soon learned that we didn't need one. The river itself is gentle and straightforward and we very much enjoyed our solitary (just the two of us) paddle downstream. We took lots of photos of Great Blue Heron and even saw some otters. The equipment was well kept, all of the employees we dealt with were competent and friendly. If we are ever in this part of Tennessee again, we would return to Canoe the Caney for another relaxing day.See more..

After much research I chose to book with Watauga Kayak for our first ever whitewater rafting adventure. My husband, two grandsons (12&13) and myself had an amazing trip with our guide, Jerry. We booked the Explorer trip. Jerry was fun, knowledgeable about the area and sites along the river, courteous and very safety conscious. I would not even consider booking elsewhere after seeing the other outfitters on the river. Watauga has the best prices, longest amount of actual on the water time, plus it’s the only local family owned outfit on the Watauga. We stayed outside of Jonesborough at the Koa and the 30 min drive over to Elizabethton was well worth it. The owners and guides are pillars of the river community worldwide. If you want to go with experienced guides that have a deep knowledge of the history of the Ocoee river, and know how to provide a rad experience from the moment you set foot in the front door, I would highly recommend booking a trip with this company. Not only that but you can even come and take an early morning trip then rent a variety of paddle boards and inflatable kayaks to take your family or someone special out on parksville lake for an evening float. Support this small business!!! Guides are experienced and know every inch of the river and focus on keeping small groups. The boats are slightly smaller and more agile than the bigger commercial rafting companies in the area. My boyfriend and I booked last minute and they were more than accommodating. Our guide, Jordan, one of the owners, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, ecology, and movement of the river. If you are experienced and enjoy rafting, definitely do the full day trip, the Olympic rapids are SO much fun. We have kayaked here several times. We decided to tent camp and kayak Oct 16. The river was very visible from our site. The site was clean, quiet and the port o potty was very clean and kept stocked with tp. There are very nice campers set up for those who like to glamp. Those are rented through Airbnb. It was a quaint, more intimate camping spot so the noise level was perfect. We ate dinner at their restaurant one night and the food was very good, the staff was friendly and the whole set up is just convenient. They definitely have a great gig going on and we are so glad we found them. The river was a little low so our kayak ride was not as smooth. This normally would not have mattered but it was only 62 degrees and I DID NOT WANT to tip. Over all, we had an awesome weekend and will definitely return.See more..

This was a fantastic choice for our family trip. Our family went white water rafting on the Watauga and it was so much fun for our little one. We booked via their website, which was really well laid out, and easy to navigate. It was very clear what ages were able to go on which trips, so I didn't have a hard time narrowing it down. Our guide was Mags and she was super great with the kids. The group that went up on the bus was kind of large so there were a bunch of rafts on the river at once; additionally, we ran into another raft crew so it was a little congested at some points, but the guides actually did a really great job making sure that everyone still had fun. For the last 7 years (minus covid years) we've rented canoes with our kids for a leisure float down the river. We always do the same route which is usually a few hours on the water. We stop for a picnic under the shade and enjoy a dip in the water. Staff are always nice and efficient. Highly recommend!See more..

We took a 6 pm guided hydro bike tour around Norris Dam and it was GREAT. The tour guide John was very knowledgable about the history of the dam as well as the lake area and provided many interesting facts. Norris Lake is like none other in East TN. The serene warm clean lake is so inviting. The natural surroundings were amazing and our timing impeccable. Had a blast this past weekend on the backpacking overnight adventure with NOLI! I've had some experience with backpacking but never in 20 degree temperatures, so I was a little nervous. Minta (A.K.A. Blueberry) our trail guide was super knowledgeable on equipment and safety and put my fears at ease. She shared tons of great tips along the adventure and helped to built my confidence in taking on the trail. Minta is a pretty awesome human being; I didn't only learn a lot, I also had a great time and left feeling inspired. We had the good fortune to kayak with Tony and Katie... It was a beautiful day and we paddled across the Little Tennessee River and down Citico Creek... down lots of fingers with beautiful canopy and growth along the banks. We had a wonderful experience with Duck Canoe. David picked us up at the meeting point, then drove us by the place where we were to get off the river (so we could see what it looked like). He then took us upstream to launch. We had 2 adults and 2 children and the 4 miles, 2 hour, trip was perfect. We had a great easy ride with plenty of places to pull off for a picnic. You always worry a little if the guide be there to pick you up when you reach the pull out point. David was there right on time. The canoe and equipment were in great condition. FAB for the win! We have been using FAB (formally float a boat) for years for our family Duck River adventures. Man, today was just an awesome day on the river! Everything.. from the easy online reservation, courteous staff, quick shuttling to and fro. Great kayaks, clean lifejackets, oars, and shuttle. We'll be checking out the camping experience next! Steve, Shannon, and Seth have got a great set up. We called that morning to let them know we were coming. When we got there they easily shuttled our kayaks to the launch. Steve told us about all of the cool places to stop and explore - a waterfall, cave, rope swings, and small cliffs. We went on the 10 mile float that took around five hours, but could take longer depending on how many times you stop. The take out is right at their place which is great at the end of the day when you are tired. It was a perfect paddle on the river. I can’t wait to do it again! Tips: Check out their Facebook page for special events. Call ahead to make a reservation. They have small cabins and primitive camping. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat for the float.
