Love our annual canoe trip w/ our kids

For the last 7 years (minus covid years) we've rented canoes with our kids for a leisure float down the river. We always do the same route which is usually a few hours on the water. We stop for a picnic under the shade and enjoy a dip in the water. Staff are always nice and efficient. Highly recommend!

    Lazy float on the Harpeth
Six of us in three Foggy Bottom canoes went on the 9 mile lower Harpeth float yesterday. The staff at Foggy Bottom were very helpful during check-in, shuttle to and from the river. The river was low at 1.8 feet, so it was a very peaceful trip. There were only two things that we had issues with. 1. At drop off, after the crew put our canoes in the water, they asked if we were good to go. We thought we were, but as we started to enter the canoes, the water was so still, it was hard to tell which way we should go. As we turned to ask, the crew had already left. We made an educated guess, which was correct and we went on our way. 2. Although there was a big sign telling everyone to grab a lifejacket, no one checked or asked if we had them. As we have been on other rivers before, we took them anyway. It was a good thing, as Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was within 1/4 mile of the last takeout point checking for life vests. The large group in front of us had one guy that didn't have his and was written a ticket for $320. I feel that the outfitters knowing this should be partly responsible for the fine. Other than those two issues the river, the crew doing the transfers were fun. Go on the trip, just make sure to take a life vest!

    Fun and friendly family business
We moved to Nashville and were excited to go kayaking. This place had everything you need to have a fun day on the river. The dropped you off and picked you up at the end. Take food and drinks to stop along the banks and PLEASE clean up your garbage! We will go back and we have our own canoes now, so the only price will be to transport.
