Considering the size of the town, the Shelbyville Recreation Center and Park are pretty great! The rec center building has gyms, a walking track, fitness/weightlifting room, ping pong, rooms to rent, racquetball, an indoor pool, and outdoor pool. The outside park area has playgrounds, disc golf course, softball, baseball, tennis courts, a walking track, and plenty of open spaces. They also have a great fireworks display on July 4th. The owners are great people and keep a watchful eye on the sportsmanship and attitude if the players. I trust the enough to drop off my 10 yr old and 13 year old for the day. $10 gets a day full of airsoft and they put a lot of thought into the layout and scenarios so that it is always different and interesting. Very well stocked with the newest guns and gear, affordable and they even do repairs and upgrades. The field marshals are very engaging and ensure the younger players have a great time too. I've even joined the kids playing and found it to be a super fun, wholesome day of outdoor fun. We weren’t expecting the level of professionalism—this place is amazing! The haunted woods tour took us nearly an hour to complete and was fun,spooky, and creative. The tour goes through a somewhat rugged hillside on trails and passes through multiple features designed to spook you. At one point the trail actually passes through the open doors of a hearse complete with spooks in the back. Don’t want to give too much away, but the $20 per person tickets were worth it. You need to be sure footed as the trail and attractions are hilly, twisty, slippery, etc. Be forewarned, the line regularly stretches to over 2 hours wait, almost from opening. It's super important to bring cash though, as they didn't (as of the time of my visit) take cards. The shuttle was fine, although there were no COVID precautions taken. I have also been to the Axe Throwing part. I really enjoyed it. The instructor was thorough but fun. I've been to other axe throwing places, and I liked that this one was more laid back while still following safety guidelines. Prices were very reasonable.
