I’ve enjoyed Benton bacon for years so on a recent trip to Gatlinburg, we stopped at the Benton meat store. This place is legitimate! You can see the meat hanging in a room just like our ancestors cured meat. I bought a large whole ham for $80 and they deboned it for me . ( keep the bones for greens or beans). Very nice guys that are very helpful. I also bought a pound of bacon for $8, which sells in retail stores for $15. You can also buy deli meat, beef tenderloin and hotdogs. The best cured ham ever! Traveled from our cabin in NC on a rainy day to check out this store. Arrived mid afternoon and checked out the store. What an awesome step back in time, we could have spent all day just shopping. However, my hunger was getting the best of me and I had to eat. We walked into the restaurant and discovered the restaurant closed just prior to us walking in. Here’s the best part of this story, the two girls working the counter and the cook stopped cleaning up after learning how far we’d driven and insisted on making us an awesome lunch of burgers and fries (excellent BTW, highly recommended).
