Best Service!

Traveled from our cabin in NC on a rainy day to check out this store. Arrived mid afternoon and checked out the store. What an awesome step back in time, we could have spent all day just shopping. However, my hunger was getting the best of me and I had to eat. We walked into the restaurant and discovered the restaurant closed just prior to us walking in. Here’s the best part of this story, the two girls working the counter and the cook stopped cleaning up after learning how far we’d driven and insisted on making us an awesome lunch of burgers and fries (excellent BTW, highly recommended). What great people and service, very personable and more then happy to service us. Kudos to you guys thank you!

    Stop and see
We were driving back from Sgt. Alvin C. York State Park and decided to stop at the general store. It has a soda fountain in the back of the store and we were hungry. We got the special along with their strawberry lemonade. It was all excellent. Factor in a juke box playing Oldie but Goldie music, and it makes for a great time.

Sorry, But More Rustic Flea Market Than Cultural Time Capsule
I really couldn't figure out the goal here, but it wasn't to recreated a 19th century general store. Good bones, great potential, but they really need to break ties with the cheap Asian import cast iron and other trinkets and instead focus on some local crafts and a few genuine antiques. Send the "vintage" junk to Goodwill or Hospice, please. I'd have loved to have seen some locally made quilts, wood carvings, etc. Fresh-made local bread & honey would, I'd think, fly out the door. Sorry, but I hate junk made to look old, and I hate old junk that is just that, junk. Barer shelves with quality products would better serve the owner and their patrons.
