    Wonderful Local Museum
The museum has been here about 11 years. It has a permanent exhibit of local (area) history...prehistoric to modern times. There are wonderful temporary exhibits of many types. The annual quilt show is about to start. The museum is also used for social events: weddings, plays, parties, fund raisers, etc. Great staff and volunteers. You will enjoy it. There is also an awesome gift shop consisting of a variety of lovely items by area artists.

A "cool" place to visit, in more ways than one.
We were in town for a Saturday afternoon wedding, and were looking for something to do for a few hours in the morning. We decided to go to the museum because it was also located within easy walking distance (2 blocks) of the Five Point Square Restaurant that we planned to eat at. Having read other reviews on TripAdvisor, and coming from the Chicago area where our museums are world-renowned, we weren't sure what to expect from such a small place, but were pleasantly surprised. They don't have huge exhibits, but what they featured were nicely done. I particularly enjoyed the display about the history of Cleveland, and the efforts being made to improve the area downtown. It was great to see them actively asking for suggestions and feedback from the public. My spouse found the Khirbet el-Maqatir: History of a Biblical Site artifact exhibit to be very interesting, too. We were in the building over an hour, and would have spent even more time in the museum and store, except we were cold, and had neglected to wear long sleeves or bring sweaters/jackets (It was over 90 degrees outside.) I wanted to suggest that they might be able to save some money on the cost of air conditioning, too, The employee in the gift shop, however, said that as part of their affiliation with the Smithsonian, they are required to maintain certain environmental conditions and temperatures to help preserve the exhibits. Next time, we'll know to come better prepared! In the future, we hope the museum will consider opening on Sunday afternoons. It seems like a place that more people, both locals and visitors, can enjoy.
