Lots of History in beautiful setting
We got off here from the Trolley, after hearing about some of the history of the site and its design. Meant more once you have that background. Tons to see and read, lots of open space to run around for kids. The Farmers market (indoor) across the drive has great food that you can use for a picnic, or eat at their tables under cover. Try to get there at the top of the hour to hear the Carillon bells.

Cool park!
What a cool park and an interesting way to absorb some historical facts about the state of Tennessee. It was a very hot, humid morning so we just walked a bit on one side and then hiked up the stairs to the capital building to take in the view. We never did see the visitor's center, which we would have found helpful if, for nothing else, a bit of a respite from the heat. We arrived at the park at about 9:15am on a July weekday and there were plenty of free two-hour parking spots.
