Beautiful even in the rain!
We drove out to Cades Cove while it was raining. So gorgeous! We did see a bear, lots of deer, and lots of turkeys! The buildings were open even though the walkways to them were a bit slippery. I highly recommend getting the $1 booklet and map at the visitor’s center before driving out to Cades Cove. It gives history of the buildings and other information. I want to go back and be able to do some hiking to the waterfalls.

Beautiful park
Beautiful park but I like Yosemite and Glacier better. We did 3 of four waterfall hikes and being 64 they were doable, but challenging!! I would never recommend the Cades Cove Loop. We were there in May and the 11 mile loop took close to FIVE HOURS because the road was so backed up with people getting out of cars to take pictures. On this loop you have NO CHOICE but to wait as it is one lane, one way ?. In addition there was not that much interesting on the loop anyway IMO. We did see a small bear in a tree on the Abrams trail in Cades Cove… Recommend Pancake Pantry in Gatlinberg-there will be a line but it moves quickly…
