- 5.0 Sarah P. Duke Gardens (2.188 reviews)

Gardens
As part of a day of celebration for my daughter’s birthday, my family and I decided to visit the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. There is no cost to visit these gardens; however, there is a parking fee of $2.00/hr. There is parking available at the main garden entrance area as well as a designated overflow area. Parking could be a bit limited so carpooling is a great idea, and the bus also runs there These gardens provide a serene atmosphere, beautiful sceneries, a peaceful and relaxing environment, and the opportunity to see some wildlife. There are also great areas for a picnic. I would recommend that you give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to explore all of the grounds as it is huge and requires a lot of walking. We had a marvelous time and will visit again. What a great way to start a birthday celebration! See more..

-Historical Motorcycle Museum
Temporarily closed - Closed until Apr 6, 2023 Speciality Museums
This is one of the best motorcycle museums in the country. The museum consists of all American made motorcycles from mostly the early years. There’s a whole days worth of bikes to see and hear. There’s guides walking around the museum that will answer any of your questions and on occasion they’ll even start some of the bikes as this is a museum in which almost every bike is still in running condition which is great. I brought in a picture from my grandfathers old Indian motorcycle not knowing what year it was and they were able to tell me it was a 1931 Indian V4 which was amazing. So many beautiful, historic and rare bikes that you’d have to see it to believe it. If you love motorcycles or just transportation just history for that matter then I highly recommend coming here for a visit. See more..

-Awe inspiring no matter if religious or not. A must see!
Churches & Cathedrals
No matter your religious belief, this is a must see when in Ashville. The architecture and history will amaze you. I am Baptist and felt an enormous sense of awe while there. The "tour guide" was exceptionally knowledgeable. We learned a lot today. It is free, but please leave a donation. They need $15million to repair water damage and leaks. Not an easy task. No one is pressuring you for $ there, but a little tidbit I know. This is history and architecture worth saving. See more..
- 4.5 Mingo Falls (1.211 reviews)
-Great short hike to beautiful falls
Waterfalls
This is a wonderful hike especially during the fall. We followed the signs as Apple Maps tried to take us in the back narrow road so the signs pointing us in the better direction on the road was a better option. The hike itself is very short and doable for all ages as long as stairs and walking over roots aren’t an issue. Parking was limited, but plenty of places to park along the side of the road. They also have port-a-potties in the parking area. These falls are absolutely stunning and well worth the short venture up to see them. It was decently crowded on Tuesday at 1pm in October, but not so bad it was uncomfortable. We were able to get plenty of photos and stand on the viewing platform at a safe distance from others. Highly recommend stopping by if passing through. See more..
- 5.0 Kersey Valley Zip Line (1.152 reviews)
-The best experience!
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
What could have turned out not so happy, was turned into a wonderful experience! We were not completely informed about the escape room situation when we called the day before. Unfortunately due to covid restrictions only one group that comes together can go into room at one time-we understood but we’re not given information the day before. Rather than not allowing us to participate-which was the only reason why we drove here- the staff called in an employee and happily set us up in the autopsy room. Pam was cheerful and helpful and so kind to our family when she worked with us. She came in during her time off to make sure we had a great experience!! See more..
- 4.5 Airlie Gardens (1.122 reviews)
-Lots of Birds
Historic Sites
I'm a bird watcher. At home I participate in something called Feeder Watch each winter. So this place was for me. I was able to photograph several species I had not seen before. The gardens are large and most of the trails are paved. For our visit, they also were decorated for their Christmas night-time light shows, but tickets - at least for the weekend we were there - were all sold out. As a military retiree me it cost only $5.00 each for not only me, but also my wife. Regular adult admission is $10.00. The only restrooms are at the gift shop/cashier, so beware if you intend to be there for several hours. They are clean. See more..

- 4.5 Topsail Island (1.097 reviews)
-Always Amazing but careful where you book your stay!
Islands
Excellent place to vacation, we go at least once a year and sometimes more! We’ve always enjoyed our stay in an oceanfront home with our entire family and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately we booked (4346 Island Dr) with Treasure Realty in Sneade’s Ferry and the home was in extremely poor condition and unclean. Treasure Realty and its agents minimized our concerns and did not address the unclean condition of our vacation property during our week’s stay and only offered a discount after we filed a complaint with BBB. We chose to refuse their $200 and reserve the right to review the property. Our view was magnificent but you’ll see from the pictures of the property why we chose to spend the majority of our time outside even after all 9 of us thoroughly cleaned what we were able. We’ll definitely go back but won’t use Treasure Realty or book 4346 Isalnd Dr. See more..

-Excellent high end well maintained and beautiful NC beach with clear warm water, lots of surfers and lots of families
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
I got here while staying in Wilmington NC on business from NYC. The beach seems like a very popular place among locals and for many good reasons. It’s very well maintained, cleaned, with lifeguards and piers. The weather was beautiful and I sincerely enjoyed the water as well as all the premium multimillion dollar real wastage beachfront homes around here along South Lumina avenue. A great place to surf or stay at the beach with a family. Highly recommend this place! See more..

- 4.5 The Bank of America Stadium (1.037 reviews)
-Jet game
Arenas & Stadiums
We came to Charlotte for a long weekend for the Jet game. I liked this stadium. Easy walk from most hotels and the streets are closed off for everyone walking. Very organized and quick easy entrance as long as you have the clear bag meeting NFL standards. We sat in the 300 section club level. While no food/drink is included the climate controlled inside was welcome. It was so hot you needed an escape for a little bit. The food choices though were not a huge variety. Basically Bojangles and burgers and other grab and go items. One thing I remarked on when I saw it was the bottomless soda cup for $8.99, it thought it was ridiculous BUT after sweating in 90 degree heat for a quarter I got it ( instead of paying 5 dollars for a bottle of water) and filled it up four times. (You just go and fill it yourself) Think I would have passed out without it. See more..
