One of our best day adventures
We had a lovely day at Chimney Rock I would recommend that it would be worthwhile for anyone, adults and children. Of course the views were breathtaking but I personally was unaware that they had wildlife encounters, I pet a possum, that was soft like a cat, and a black snake. They have a walking trail just for children that is short and informational. They do not have multi day passes but a guest can go in at 4 (shorter lines) stay for a few hours and then go back the next day for free?. Day passes are $17 but an annual pass is $32 and numerous discounts are available. They have multiple hiking trails from fairly easy to difficult, we walked to the waterfalls which is a fairly easy hike. Average time needed for what we did would require about 2-3 hours not including lunch. They do have special events and tours which can be found on their website and family passes that can only be purchased on line. Bathrooms and water stations are very available as are snack areas. In the village they have a full restaurant called Old Rock, where we had lunch, the sandwiches and fries were great and they also have nice salads. The village itself is very inviting with some cute shops and the river through the village is spectacular.

Great place to visit along with seeing Lake Lure
Nice view from the top, easy ride on the elevator up 27 stories I believe it was. Once on top there is a shop, little eats place. Walk through this to get to a couple flights of steps to be on top of the rock. There are more steps to get to the very top of the mountain if you feel the need. The trail to Hickory Nut Falls isn't too long, but easier on the way down for sure. Beautiful falls for sure to see. We went about 8:30 in the morning on a Sunday, no crowd whatsoever at all. Great place to visit and stay.
