When planning a week at Lake Norman with our grown children, we knew we wanted to rent stand up paddle boards for several days. The folks at Aloha Paddle Sports could not have been more helpful! The owner delivered the boards to the house and then picked them up at the end of our visit. The price was great and included delivery & pick up. There were many people who made our kayaking experience wonderful! From being greeted, to transporting us to the launch site, carrying our kayaks and helping us get settled into them, then helping us out at the end and transporting us back to our car. My husband and I did the guided sunset paddle. With limited paddling experience, this was a great tour for us. Our guides, Jess and Simon, were friendly and knowledgeable. The tour provided time to relax and enjoy the surroundings between paddles. One of my favorite parts was after dark, in a quiet cove, listening to the frogs. Definitely recommend, especially for those with minimal experience.See more..

This company was very easy to deal with online. Did not have to contact them any other way. the exception being when they arrived and did all the heavy lifting. Came on time to drop off and pick up ... made the rental of 2 single and 3 double kayaks as painless as possible. Went kayaking on the Tar River with the 4 of us (Wife, Daughter & boyfriend) in 2 tandem kayaks. The Tar River Life team was magnificent! Very friendly and accommodating and knew their stuff. After a 10 minute ride up the river, they dropped us off and got us into the kayaks. The river is gorgeous! Very quiet and serene. There is a "light" white water (-ish) part right after you start. We loved it....it was just enough to give us some excitement and still feel safe enough. (we are novice kayakers) The trip down river is noted as taking about 3 hours, but that is when you stop along the way for some food/drinks on one of the river banks. We took it very easy and completed the trip in about 2.5 hours. When you arrive at the endpoint, they help you out of the kayak and you can go right back to your car.......We all agree that this is an absolute MUST to go there! It is really a very nice and relaxing experience....We WILL be back very very soon!See more..

I stopped at Long Island Paddlesports to ask about parking my vehicle there and paddling Lake Norman. Then Frank told me about Balls Creek, the falls, and Murray's Mill Historic Site. I had no idea they existed. He also offered other paddle site information and after talking with him I decided our Meetup Group just HAD to check these sites out. His Brother Adam helped our group out with rentals at a very reasonable price and had nice, stable, single kayaks, tandem Kayaks, and SUPs. I booked online two person kayak for 3 hour trip. Cameron met us at bridge on time, very friendly and explained everything. Water movement was slow but perfect for our first time, learning to paddle as a team. "Brown" water river, but did not smell and we were not bothered by mosquitos or flies. Very wooded on both sides and muddy with lots of dead wood from past flooding, but there were a few rocky places to stop for lunch. There is a bald eagle in the area, he flew by us 3 times, AND it was on the 4th of July , AMAZING !! 40 - 80' wide river with plenty of shady areas. Exiting at the end was alittle tricky (rocky) as new bridge construction is in progress but we were offered helpful assistance from the main office. My wife and I had a fun day on the water. So to make a long story short my wife and a couple of friends were meeting up to kayak down the Uwharrie to lake Tillery. We were running behind while packing up to meet one of our friends there. In the process only one paddle actually made it on the trailer so we were basically up the Uwharrie without our paddles. So we looked this place up and drove over there with the idea of renting or buying a pair of paddles for the day because we were more than an hour away from our home. It was a little tricky to find however when we got there and explained our situation to the owner he told us that he didn't have any paddles for sale but he would just loan us a couple for the day as long as we promised to bring them back!! What a great guy!! We will be taking any outfitting business we have for the Uwharrie river to him for certain. I honestly wish we could do more than leave a 5 star review.
