4.5Historic Oakwood Cemetery(137 reviews) - Beautiful and Historic Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Cemeteries
Believe it or not, we were on a segway tour and were led into this cemetery. What a way to see it! Lots of history there and beautiful.See more..
The location was not easy to find. There is a cemetery annex behind the V.A. hospital which some websites list as the location. The historic cemetery contains a mass grave with over 11,000 unknown Union soldiers buried there. The cemetery is not very large and is easy to walk around.See more..

Ever since reading Ripley's Believe It Or Not #2, and any edition of Guinness Book of World Records, I wanted to find out more about Chang and Eng Bunker. They have over 1,500 descendants in USA, and more than a few served in the military. This is a great place to show odd history.See more..
4.0Wiggins Cemetery(6 reviews) - Finally a Resting Place Spent 1-2 hours Cemeteries
Very good hike and a reminder that we are not of the same stock as our forefathers. A peaceful place to be buried and each hiker this Christmas helped build a wreath for each of the Wiggins family and we added our pine cones to the decorations. This hike requires strength and sturdy boots. Make sure you city folk bring some water. There are a few signs of bear along the way. Keep an eye open.See more..
3.0Kittrell Confederate Cemetery(3 reviews) - Resting place for fallen Confederate soldiers is why its excellent...not the surroundings Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries I don't give it an excellent rating cause of the location or upkeep but because of what it stands for. Last summer my wife and I decided to find it when driving by. Its tucked away back behind some homes with some shady characters walking down the road when we visited. We wouldn't visit late in the day. The grounds are not kept up very well like the other reviewer said. I've been to many other Civil War cemeteries and it needs some work. A sign says its maintained by the "Daughters of the Confederacy". The state should take over the site but I'm sure its too small and very few know of its existence. The soldiers died late in the war at a local hospital and were buried there. Its a nice place to stop and pay your respect for Civil War soldiers. This link tells more about it. http://www.civilwaralbum.com/misc7/kittrell1.htmSee more..
5.0Mount Zion Baptist Historical Church & Cemetery(2 reviews) - Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church: Cultural Hub of Community Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
Amazing times at this church for homecomings, Sunday school, and regular services. A church that continues to reflect the family values and hard work of its community. Pastor Nolan and First Lady J. continue to carry on this tradition. They have fortified the foundation of the building and brought beauty into this area once again. Oh, and Pastor Nolan has very inspirational sermons taken directly from the Bible. . .Come see for yourself. They have services every 2nd and 4th Sunday.See more..
