    - Great short hike to beautiful falls

This is a wonderful hike especially during the fall. We followed the signs as Apple Maps tried to take us in the back narrow road so the signs pointing us in the better direction on the road was a better option. The hike itself is very short and doable for all ages as long as stairs and walking over roots aren’t an issue. Parking was limited, but plenty of places to park along the side of the road. They also have port-a-potties in the parking area. These falls are absolutely stunning and well worth the short venture up to see them. It was decently crowded on Tuesday at 1pm in October, but not so bad it was uncomfortable. We were able to get plenty of photos and stand on the viewing platform at a safe distance from others. Highly recommend stopping by if passing through. See more..

This waterfall is about a 45 minute drive or so from Asheville. My 7 year old daughter and took a break from the city to go check it out. It's just as beautiful as it was over 10 years ago when I last visited. Absolutely stunning with great volume in a tranquil setting. There's a platform above where those who are disabled, elderly, or very young can enjoy a great view just a short walk away from their vehicle. 2 sets of stairs links the upper viewing platform with the lower. You can also brave the rocks from down there but caution must be exercised. I saw multiple people slip. It was a warm day in early October so there was a pretty good crowd out. Definitely recommend this as an entry level "hike" where the payoff far exceeds the effort. Just be careful as the stairs can be slippery. Some people hiked a little bit downstream but the view doesn't change much unless you're doing photography. See more..

  6. 4.5 Juney Whank Falls (122 reviews)
    - one of several falls easily visited along a meandering trail in the park

This was the second day of our long weekend visit to Western NC. There were a couple of falls located in the GSMNP so we decided to visit and undertake the short hike required to see them. We visited in the winter, so crowds were down, but there were still folks other than us willing to brave the mild conditions. Take a pic of the map on your cell phone so you can refer to it later (we forgot, and had to back track). A short hike (2 miles) will take you past two of the more interesting waterfalls, Juney Whank Falls being the first one. The trail does go uphill, fairly steeply, to get to the falls (makes sense). A nice little bridge crosses right in front, providing a nice little photo op for you. Continue along the path to the next falls (Tom Branch Falls). Recommended See more..

Indian Creek Falls is the largest of the three waterfalls in the Deep Creek section of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail to the falls is wide , paved, and mostly flat. There is a set of steep steps to get from the trail to the base of the falls. Indian Creek Falls is 0.8 miles from the parking lot, passing Tom Branch Falls at the 0.3 mile point. I'm really glad we hiked to Indian Creek Falls; the trail and falls are picturesque. See more..

    - Best stop on our Smoky Mountains trip!

We LOVED this place (did it twice on our 4 day trip - that good)! 1.5 mile hike, not horrible but a small incline on the way in and definitely have to watch your footing throughout (2 adults and kids 14, 11, 7). Good path along the stream with peaceful views and sounds (river). Probably took us 40 min to hike to the falls at a leisurely pace. The kids LOVED being able to jump from the 15? foot rock into the cold water. Not overly crowded (mid August) but a few other families/people. We could have spent a full day there easily but our kids love adventure, jumping, and climbing. This was our #1 spot during our trip and highly recommend! See more..
  9. 5.0 Mouse Creek Falls (36 reviews)
    - Fun and beautiful!

We arrived around noon on a Sunday and the parking was full, so we ended up parking in the horse parking area. Also, the bathrooms were locked. The hike is very enjoyable! Starts out pretty smooth, and most of it is along the river! The rapids were so powerful and gorgeous. You'll see the typical moss & rhodadendren. The waterfall is exquisite however! We passed it at first! If you make it to the bridge turn back and look for the hitching post! The falls are next to that. Definitely recommend! It would be a good one for kids! Would just need to watch them at the falls. See more..

We loved the hike to Tory's Falls. We had to watch our footing, but were rewarded with a neat little cave and a waterfall at the end of our hike. Water flow wasn't too much when we went, but was still worth ths hike in and out. See more..
  11. 3.5 Cliff Branch Falls (2 reviews)
    - Small Roadside Waterfall
    Waterfalls
    Cliff Branch Falls image
Cliff Branch Falls is a small roadside waterfall on US-441 between Cherokee and Newfound Gap. It is just over three miles north of the entrance to Smokemont Campground. There is a small pull-off on the right and the waterfall is right across the street. It's a small waterfall, less than 20 feet, and on a small stream, but it's scenic if you catch it after a heavy rain. And it's easy enough to visit right on the side of the road. See more..
