We came here for our anniversary and will be back every year from here on out! Julia and Kelly in customer service were so accommodating! Everyone made us feel so special. We had dinner at 1895 and the staff was wonderful, especially Al. My husband played course 8 and wouldn’t stop saying how phenomenal it was. The spa was a real treat, I got a massage and the whole staff was so friendly. The smoothies were great too. The room was exceptional we had a king suite in the Carolina hotel and I have never slept better. Breakfast was delicious and they had so many options. We also used the bikes to travel around and had fun getting lost. Thank you Pinehurst for your hospitality, I am sad to leave but definitely have something to look forward too. See more..

Golfed on a Tuesday mid day and we had the grey course to ourselves. Greens are in good shape. Recently airiated but still good. Fairways were in good shape. Rough was thick and challenging. Great design. Nice clubhouse. Bunkers were a bit hard. Cart paths were a bit bumpy. Only a few ball washers. No drinking water on the course But, it was sooooo nice having the course not busy and challenging!!! It was not apparent where to get to the clubhouse at the turn. Make sure you ask! See more..

  11. 4.0 Southern Pines Golf Club (61 reviews)
    - Diamond in the rough
Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Golf Courses
    Southern Pines Golf Club image
We played Southern Pines Club on our getaway day and weren’t expecting much since it was sold and the new owners were working on it but we were blown away. Sure there are some rough edges since there are improvements going on but what a wonderful course and piece of property. This is a diamond in the rough. Wonderful elevation changes and great variety of holes. Day we were there it had a lot of play but fortunately we were one of the first groups off. The bag drop kid was very nice and enjoyed very much talking to the starter. The proshop was sparse and person in the proshop was not particularly friendly. Clubhouse and driving range need some work, first course we played that we had to pay for practice balls in the Pinehurst area. Putting green was on the small side. We didn’t know what to expect but after an easy first hole we were impressed. Greens were on the slow side as compared to other area courses. The front nine was easier than the back 9. Great stretch of holes 4-8. I felt the back nine was more difficult, only one par three and par five on the back. The 12th hole was difficult and 17 and 18 were good Donald Ross finishing holes. This place has the potential to be a 5 star golf stop. Would definitely play this course again. See more..

    - Fun to play
    Golf Courses
    Pinehurst Course Number 8 image
The course works it way through rolling hills, trees and waste bunkers with a little water thrown in for good measure. This is a very enjoyable golf course with tough putting surfaces. The clubhouse is large, but it was very quiet. Hardly anyone was around. It felt very removed from the rest of the resort, but maybe that’s a good thing. I would definitely put this on the play list when visiting Pinehurst. See more..

    Pinehurst Course Number 4 image
I guess I will have to get used to the look of lots of waste areas. Not as pretty as I remember this course being. Even from the red tees, the course is pretty long for us senior women. Number 9 has a waste area that is too big to carry even if hit a good drive (for a short hitter that has a reasonable handicap because she chips and putts well). A couple of the greens were a bit too tricked up. Otherwise we had a very good time. It's February so the condition of the greens wasn't great... not as good as some others I have played in the area this month. Dont know if thats because it is fairly new. Starter was great. Upon arrival at the course my expectations were high. This area of our state is known for top end good courses. When we arrived I noticed that there were many golfers at the course for okay which was encouraging. Staff was very friendly and informative. Off to the putting green which was in very good shape and much larger that the actual greens on the course. Throughout the round we are treated to a very enjoyable round. Not wide open but not too tight. Greens were a bit hard which makes for more of a challenge and rolling. Would visit again for the price we paid. See more..

Pinehurst is loaded with golf courses. The quality of resort courses ranges from outstanding to just ok. Dormie Club is just south of outstanding. The routing is excellent, the movement in and around the greens is devilish, and the greens are in excellent shape. It had a rocky start. It was to be a high-end private venue but opened at the wrong time. It went public. However, it was recently purchased and will go private beginning in 2020. Get it while you can. See more..

This is a hidden gem! I had such fun playing Softgolf at Tanglewood Park - I've been there three times now and just love it! It's even more fun to play at dusk because the holes have cool lights and the balls and clubs glow in the dark! The folks who own it, Carolyn and Ray are so nice and they make sure you have a wonderful time. I loved the work they have been doing to improve the golf course. That being said, I think there is more to do. The Bermuda had not quite emerged from dormancy and as a result the course was not as challenging as it had been in years past. The course and pro shop still look amazing, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the pace of play was very good for a public course. See more..

Bryan Park - Players and Champions Courses image
A lot of my golf enjoyment is the scenery and this course did not disappoint. It is beautiful. It's one of my husbands favorite courses. He loves everything by Robert Trent Jones Sr. There are 2 courses available but he has only played the champions course. The check in was very easy and the people were nice. They have a excellent warm up area with a huge driving range and practice green. The fairways are a little tighter than I might normally like with fairway bunkers generally on both sides in our landing area. The green complexes were outstanding with strategic bunkers on almost every one. Conditioning was also very good and pace of play was excellent. I'm looking forward to being able to play there again. Longleaf Golf & Family Club is an 18-hole Dan Maples designed course that offers every golfer an exceptional experience. In 2015, Bill Bergin was hired to refresh the course, including new bunkers, waste areas, new greens, and additional tees. This renovation brought the LONGLEAF TEE SYSTEM to life...a concept that provides seven tee options (13 including blended tees) that allow fair and fun play for ALL golfers. When you visit, be sure to participate in our Tee Assessment that will pinpoint which tee you should play from...all based on your driver distance. No time for 18 holes? Then Bottlebrush is your answer. Take 30 minutes and play our very challenging, six-hole short course with holes ranging from 50 to 100 yards. Located off of historic Midland Road in Southern Pines, Longleaf Golf & Family Club has been called the 'Most playable course in the Sandhills' by Ron Witten from Golf Digest. See more..
