If you are looking for an easy walk you will enjoy this 3.1 mile loop along the Eno River and through the trees. It offers wide paved paths, boardwalks, and bridges (with a few natural trails) and is open from 8:00am until a half hour after sunset. It's also part of the North Carolina Mountain-to- Sea Trail. After looking at a map online you can choose from 3 access points - Gold Park at 415 Dimmocks Mill Road, the main entrance behind the Eno River Parking Deck (downtown Hillsborough) at the end of Nash & Kollock Street, and River Park at 140 E. Margaret Lane. You will find informational signs along the trail telling you about the areas history. It's dog friendly but dogs must be on a leash at all times. You can easily make your walk as long or as short as you want. And be sure to keep your eyes open for all types of wildlife. If you need to rest there are plenty of benches along the trail as well as a picnic area.See more..
We visited in December on a colder, very wet day. There were no horses to see but this small town is certainly walkable. It have a few older buildings (old west look). The bar and restaurant was open. We went in the the restaurant and talked to the employee. Very friendly. She said we just missed the horses and people as they were there the night before. It is very, very small. I'd like to go back to see the horses but really, it did not seem to be anything there. A very small, older hotel, saloon (we didn't go in since we had kids with us). 4.5Reynolda gardens(33 reviews) - Charming Reynolda House and Gardens Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Walking Areas
The Reynolda House is beautiful and a gem of the Triad. We toured as a part of our 20th Anniversary getaway. Ed, a tour guide, was kind and shared an excitement for the home and the Smith Reynolds Family. We loved learning about the history of the home, the details of the incredible art and tidbits like the reasons behind white bathrooms of that day. We then enjoyed the Gardens and a treat in Teynolda Village at Dough Joe’s. Charming!See more..
