Great experience and doesn’t take too long to see. Only need a couple of hours to see everything and very convenient to US 52 highway. You could tell there has been a fire but the views are still beautiful and everything is open. This includes a brand new and spacious visitors center at the base. You can drive up to the top of Little Pinnacle, which is next to the top of the Big Pinnacle on weekdays. On weekends there is usually a shuttle to the top (March-Nov) but check website to make sure. To avoid the crowds go on a weekday or go early on weekends. Went here on a sunny Friday in early April and it wasn’t crowded at all. Once at the top, there are spectacular views of the Piedmont and the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you have 30 minutes, make sure to take the .8 mile Jamokee trail loop, which walks from Little Pinnacle to the Big Pinnacle. This trail has spectacular views of Hanging Rock and Flat Mountains to the East. See more..

I feel like this park is a hidden gem. Rarely crowded so it's pretty peaceful. The trails are rugged - lots of roots and a couple of steep inclines. But there are benches in the areas with the elevation gains and the views at the top are well worth it. I am an overweight 50-year-old and I hike it regularly. I recommend bringing a good walking stick. See more..

  7. 5.0 Standing Indian Mountain (1 review)
    - Awesome Hike and View
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
Began our hike at the Backcountry Information Center, near the Standing Indian Campground, Franklin, North Carolina on Fire Service Road 67. The hike started up well marked Kimsey Creek Trial to an Appalachian Trailhead at Deep Gap. We hiked North to Standing Indian Mountain. There are a number of campsites on the mountain and a shelter just prior to the summit. The hike up Kimsey Creek to the AT is 4.1 miles once on the AT it is another 2.4 miles. Return trail is the Lower Ridge Trail. This can work in to a great overnight hike. We actually hiked on to Albert Mountain and spent 2 nights on the trail, looping back to the Backcountry Information Center See more..
