5.0Sarah P. Duke Gardens(2.188 reviews) - Beautiful Grounds, Scenic Views, Serene Environment Gardens
As part of a day of celebration for my daughter’s birthday, my family and I decided to visit the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. There is no cost to visit these gardens; however, there is a parking fee of $2.00/hr. There is parking available at the main garden entrance area as well as a designated overflow area. Parking could be a bit limited so carpooling is a great idea, and the bus also runs there These gardens provide a serene atmosphere, beautiful sceneries, a peaceful and relaxing environment, and the opportunity to see some wildlife. There are also great areas for a picnic. I would recommend that you give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to explore all of the grounds as it is huge and requires a lot of walking. We had a marvelous time and will visit again. What a great way to start a birthday celebration!See more..

We walk around these gardens many times a year. No matter what season it is there are always lovely plants and trees to see, flowering, leafing or bare. The paths lead you through and around the garden. We use it to get ideas for our own garden, to watch progress and we particularly love both the camellias in bloom and the north Caroline native plant garden. Across the way is the azalea and rhododendron garden which is absolutely gorgeous when those bushes are in flower. This garden is an absolute delight.See more..
What a gem for Pinehurst, NC. There are several gardens (floral or vegetable) , statues, and a special architectural structure to see and enjoy at the horticultural garden. I am visiting from San Diego with my adult daughter. I was impressed! See more..
Even though it was a little past mid October when we went, there were plenty of flowers in bloom. When we turned in I had commented that maybe there's more than just mums in bloom. Boy, there was plenty more. I'd seen a review where one person said this place was mostly grass and not many flowers. I don't know where that person went, but it couldn't have been here. There are a lot of paths and side paths. Everywhere we went there were flowers blooming. I wish the gift shop and bathrooms had been open. I don't know if it was closed due to Covid or what. That seems to be the default blame for everything now. My 70 year old mom was my traveling companion on this trip. (I had to select who I was traveling with in this revue, but the only family option was with teens or young children.???) We'd been to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens near Charlotte. This was smaller but better. I will definitely want to go back here during other times of the year.See more..

Free entry and accessibility made Coker one of the highlights of our Chapel Hill visit. See more..
