4.5Childress Vineyards(463 reviews) - A Gem In Lexington, North Carolina! Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
By opening the doors to Childress Vineyards in 2004, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress fulfilled a longtime dream that grew from the days when he first began racing in California and visited wineries with friends. What began as camaraderie and good times soon became an engaging passion for world-class wines and then the vision to build a world-class winery. After looking at options in California and New York, Richard chose farmland in Lexington, NC located less than five miles from his RCR Racing operations. The location situated Childress Vineyards as the gateway to the Yadkin Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA), North Carolina’s first federally designated region for grape growing. Childress Vineyards is one of the most prominent wineries in the state’s re-emerging wine industry that has grown from 21 to more than 180 wineries since the year 2000.See more..

4.5Treehouse Vineyards(213 reviews) - What a unique experience! Saturday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
What a great time....it was all the brochures said it would be! 2 story, real treehouse, ove-looking the vineyard and horses and creek. Get there on time to spend a full, most enjoyable night, with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, and a little kitchenette! We played cards on the outside deck and had drinks enjoying the view. A BBQ grill was on the deck, but we brought pizza, which we heated in the microwave. Bought some cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay wines at check-in......would recommend the cabernet if you like a light one. Bought wine lipgloss in small bottles, which were great for gifts. Saw another guest stop by at the store, and they bought wine slurpees, but didn't buy one myself. Treehouse was comfy and air conditioned. Heard a DJ playing music until 8 PM, and then quiet reigned. Well worth the value.....went with 2 girlfriends, but great for a romantic evening or two.See more..

Since my first visit to Laurel Gray back in 2004, when the place was kept open for more than one hour after ordinary closing time just for me (and my wife) to arrive, I visit this place whenever I'm in North Carolina. The wine is great and the people are even greater. They really makes you feel welcome. Unfortunately I normally spend far too much money here :-) thanks to the quality of the wine, the vinaigrette, BBQ sauce and more.See more..

4.0Chatham Hill Winery(70 reviews) - Memorial Day Fun Saturday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
My husband and i ended up in the area on Memorial day. We love wineries so we searched to see which ones would be having something special on that day. Chatham happened to be having a special Filipino lunch and a wine tour. Geronimo was the name of the caterer and it was fabulous. He is opening a food truck in that area this next month. Go visit him if you get the chance. We did the $10 wine tasting and enjoyed them immensely. We bought us a bottle to have with some lunch and waited for our wine tour. The tall younger man there did our tour and he was so funny. He did a great job and was very informative. We will definitely go back there.See more..
Stony Knoll Vineyards is steeped in history, with roots running deep, much like the vines that now line our fields. This North Carolina Century Farm began back in 1896 when the ancestors of Kathy Coe bought a tract of land in Southern Surry County. The farm was a means of survival, in a time when nothing came easy. In the early 1940’s the vineyard area was cleared with hand tools and domesticated animals and put into cultivation. During this time, tobacco was the claimed cash crop. This caused an immense effort to care for the land and give back to it, much as it was giving to the family. Tobacco remained dominant until the early 1980’s. The farm remained in production, but switching from tobacco to cattle and hay. Then in the late 1990’s, Van Coe had a dream of putting the farm into a new cultivation, with the driving force being future preservation into a family vineyard & winery. In April of 2001, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Niagara, Syrah were born.See more..
We spotted this vineyard on Groupon and thought we’d give it a try. So glad we did. It’s set on a beautiful piece of land with a small lake. They offered 13 wine tastings and they were all decent wines. No muscadine wines which I don’t care for. They also have a restaurant on site which not all wineries do. We had the beer mash feed hamburger and the fried grouper. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. I also ordered the sweet potato fries and they did not disappoint. They also brew beer here as well. We are definitely going back and having the same lunch and this time try the beer.See more..
4.5Grassy Creek Vineyard & Winery(63 reviews) - Great wine and friendly staff Saturday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
Stopped here to walk to Carter Falls, which was a nice hike through the woods to the falls. The winery is really pretty in a beautiful setting. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We tried the 5 wine flights for $15 (mostly reds). The wines are quite light and went down well with the saucisson, Gouda and crackers also available. Would definitely visit again.See more..
Yesterday we went to Gregory Vineyard to redeem a Groupon. We were a group of 8 girlfriends. We have all been on winery tours (except one), and thought this was one of the funnest we have been to. It is not too far for a Sunday drive, and the setting is absolutely beautiful!! Be sure to leave enough time to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch and appreciate the view. We started with the trolley tour (ask for Deborah, she made the whole day extra special and fun!!). We loved seeing the fields and learning how the grapes become wine. Lots of great picture opportunities!! Like in front of the old Model T or on the one pony they have, or just looking out over the fields. We were expecting a quiet afternoon, and we had a wonderful, wonderful time!! The employees are all extremely helpful and quick to serve! I highly recommend a visit!!See more..

4.5Rock of Ages Winery(53 reviews) - Some unique flavors and a great tasting presenter! Wineries & Vineyards
We love local service. The best part of the winery is the personal attention. Jimmy was quite the character at first, but we learned to love his insight. The sweet wines are above average - some with rather unique flavors. The Holiday Mulling mix is a definite take home.. All in all we bought 13 bottles so, it is worth the trip. I would recommend a tasting, and make sure you have crackers. You will need them. Rocksboro Red was my favorite sweet along with the Peach Orchard.See more..
Don’t miss this one! By far the best wine tasting we experienced in the area over 3 days! All in our group of 8 agreed this is the best. It may look small and doesn’t have fancy surroundings and vineyards but it was our favorite stop. Warm hospitality and delicious wines! Even better, we rented the Askew house and simply walked home after.See more..

4.0West Bend Vineyards(40 reviews) - Cool Place/Very Good Wine/Local Musicians/Tasty Tapas Wineries & Vineyards
We had such a nice time at West Bend this weekend! The location is in a beautiful setting that is really easy to get to. There was a two man band playing that people said were local musicians, and that's a really cool thing to do. We had 6ppl in our group and we opted to sit outside b/c the weather was finally nice, and West Bend had multiple tables and chairs and fire-pits placed around which was super nice! The wines were tasty too, and their beer selection as well. We ordered from the Grille, and they delivered it to our table:) A very nice English Lady (maybe manager or owner?) came by and checked in with us, and was super friendly, as well as the staff inside at the bar area! We will most certainly go back and enjoy more music/wine/and food again soon!See more..

If you enjoy wine or grape juice, then the Wood Mill Winery is a great place to stop. The property is well maintained and very relaxing. The service and tasting experience was also excellent. We also enjoyed the outdoor seating, while tasting their products. The Scuppernong grape juice and Dixie red wine are good choices to start your experience with. After relaxing and tasting the wine, we purchased a bottle and two wine glasses. Pricing for the wine and glasses was reasonable in our opinion. The winery also has a display indicating the awards they won. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon drive or adventure.See more..

Since it was later in the day we decided to check them out and decided to stay the night. Locaed in a peaceful setting we had a great nights rest and really hated to leave the next morning. 4.5Flint Hill Vineyards(22 reviews) - Yummy wines, friendly server, beautiful old house Saturday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
My husband and I brought our dog along today and did a tasting. The lady who was our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the property. She even offered our dog a bowl of water. We enjoyed all the wines (unusual for us) and took home 3 bottles! We look for 3 things when we go to vineyards: wine, location, staff. And based on those things, I would say this is one of the best vineyards in NC because of the friendly staff, great wines, and lovely old house. My other 2 favorites are Midnight Magdalena (definitely the best!) and Baker Buffalo Creek.See more..
4.5Midnight Magdalena Vineyards(21 reviews) - Delicious Wine with a Wonderful View Saturday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
Welcome to Midnight Magdalena Vineyards where we are “Raising Authentic Wines.” We are a family owned and operated vineyard located on over 50 acres in the Swan Creek AVA. The long days of sunshine and unique micro-climate of our vineyard provide an excellent setting to produce the quality grapes for our authentic wines. In April 2013, we planted our first vineyard blocks of Merlot, Riesling, Traminette and Corot Noir (the first vines planted in North Carolina) on about 6 acres. We had our first harvest in 2015, producing about 670 cases of wine. Our focus is on dry wines, and current offerings include a Dry Riesling, Traminette, 2 dry rose' wines, Merlot, and our Corot Noir. Our Tasting House opened in October 2016, and in April 2018 we planted another two varietals in the field in front of the Tasting House - Tempranillo and Moschofilero. Wines from these new vines should be available in 2021.See more..
We visited the Hutton Vineyards the other day, on a trip through the Vadkin Valley Vineyards. I was expected it to be a very small tasting room, and it was. In the bottom of a converted garage. But we enjoyed it, especially after coming one of the large more well known vineyards in the area where the people doing the tasting seemed disinterested in their job and had simply memorized the wine label! In contrast, the person doing our tasting was Heidi Hutton herself and she was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I loved that is was a vertical wine tasting, tasting the 2005 - 2008 Cabernet Francs, as well as other wines. So much fun to really see the way a grape tastes as the vine matures. Finally a winery in the Vadkin not doing super sweet wines at jacked up prices! We ended up leaving with 5 bottles of wine, all fantastically priced at $10 - $12.See more..
