  1. 4.0 River Arts District (1.307 reviews)
    - Creativity abounds!
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Art Galleries • Neighborhoods
    River Arts District image
If you like art, buy art, or create art, this district is definitely a must see. Take a day to wander through artists and craftsmen open studios as they create. Many artists took the time to stop their work to talk about it and answer questions about the district. Very genuine and authentic! Make sure to support these artists and buy while you’re there for gifts and yourself. A bonus is the breweries and restaurants close by. See more..

    - Low stress art

    Woolworth Walk image
Lot’s of different artists display here, some of it’s really good and some is just weird, but that’s art. Most prices were realistic too. I don’t like normal galleries because there is always someone following you around trying to determine if you are serious about a $1,000 glass cat but here your free to roam around and look without some miss snooty asking if you like glass cats or pigs better. French Connections image
Since I'm not into yard art, I overlooked this place until a neighbor said they have fabulous international fabrics and one of a kind items. I'm not sure why they have an African and a French vibe, but it works. They even had "oilcloth" which is really vinyl laminated fabrics which can be hard to find in anything other than red gingham. While visiting the area, I continually heard gardeners recommend the plants grown by John Martin of Cedar Creek Gallery. Sure enough, he was selling plants that were equally new to me and desirable. Plant souvenirs. Check. Indoors. the gallery was a continual delight as I meandered from room to room. - Another Pottery Worth Visiting in Seagrove.....
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops • Art Galleries
    Uwharrie Crystalline image
My wife and i have visited the Seagrove area before and have always found beautiful pieces to bring home with us. The Uwharrie Crystalline Pottery is a must visit when in town. This time we came up for the 36th Annual Seagrove Pottery Festival but also visited numerous potters along the NC Pottery Highway. We had a chance to speak with owner Pam Kennedy who is very friendly and likes to answer any questions regarding her line of unique pottery. (some potters are not quite so friendly and accommodating). When in Seagrove make sure you visit Uwharrie Crystalline right in the middle of town. Just down the street from the NC Pottery Center. 12. 5.0 The Joyful Jewel (19 reviews)
    - Exciting
Saturday: 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM Art Galleries
    The Joyful Jewel image
As an amateur artist I get excited when I can look at art. The Joyful Jewel reminds me of Aladdin's Cave (which I've only seen in movies). It has such a great variety of art and is always getting in new things that I'm always stimulated when I visit. I come for artist dates - to refuel on colors and shapes and media. Photography. Pottery. Dream catchers. Jewelry. Clothing. Knitted items. Paintings. Wood work. Ironwork. You won't find any commercially produced items here, except for artist created card reproductions, photo prints, or giclees, but nothing made in China or for mass markets. Definitely a must visit attraction. There's items at every price level, and all of it a surprisingly less than you'd find in a big city. I highly recommend it. See more..

I found the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts as it was the first stop of the Orange County Artist Guild Tour. It is much larger than it looks from the street so give yourself plenty of time to view of the works of art and possibly shop. Besides the artwork for sale there are reproductions of some of the work on cards and smaller pieces. The gallery had pottery pieces, sculptures, acrylic paintings, oil paintings, oil paintings, jewelry, art from recycled materials, ceramic tile works, furniture, woodwork, mixed media, photographs, glass, textiles.
