    Hooked Adventures image
This was a privately booked excursion taken while on a week long Alaskan cruise with my wife. Went out on 18 July with three fellow cruise ship passengers and one solo traveler. Had a great time fishing for halibut. I caught one, although not a giant, it made the whole outing totally worth it. Others caught fish as well. Saw some dolphins as a bonus. Would recommend! Alaska Troutfitters image
Wow! Alaska troutfitters was AMAZING! We did a guided fly out with Sam. He was perfect. I am not very experienced so he gave me tips and pointers along the way without being pushy. My husband (who is much more experienced) was given Alaska specific guidance and advanced techniques. We caught loads of Grayling and had an unforgettable day on the water. We also rented gear from the fly shop for the next two days. Sam and those in the shop have us great tips and suggested hike in fishing holes. All proved to be great recommendations. Friendly, professional, and just the right amount of guidance. Want to return in a few years and we will definitely go through Troutfitters again! See more..

Captain Billy was AMAZING! He knew right where to take us to see whales. At one point, two whales swam right by the boat on the right side, while another whale was jumping on the left side! It was incredible. We spent all afternoon watching the wales play and feed together. Captain Billy also took us to see bears on the shoreline (watching from the boat). So fun! The boat was clean and had all the accommodations we needed. Captain Billy was able to answer all of our questions and told us stories about the history of the native tribe as well as the island and town. Over all, it was a 5 star experience. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this!! See more..

Hiked the trail starting from the Mountain Vista trailhead. It was a great hike. The hike is 100% uphill and then 100% downhill. The Savage River end of the trail is steep. The top of the hike was windy and chilly on the day we hiked. We had a picnic at the top. The day was overcast, so we did not see Denali from the top. The vista was beautiful nonetheless! See more..
  10. 5.0 Cross Sound Express Whale Watching (81 reviews)
    - Whale of a Time!
    Dolphin & Whale Watching
Cross Sound Express Whale Watching image
Tod and Sarah were both personable and made the experience memorable. Snacks and hot beverages were provided below deck. Our family of three were joined by two other parties, which meant everyone was able to have a great view on deck to see the whales. We saw many whale tails and came in very close proximity to a pod of three whales. We found a very active whale who breached and later showed off his flipper and kept slapping the surface of the water with this tail- I had never seen the latter before. The captain listened to the interests of the group and tried to gear the trip to meet those goals. Tod was able to accommodate our luggage on the Taz since we had checked out of our lodging and were headed to the airport after. This was an afternoon tour and was finalized in time to make our Alaskan Airlines flight in the evening. See more..

Alaska Sea Kayakers - Day Trips image
Alaska Sea Kayakers was a perfect way to spend an afternoon in Whittier! They were organized, on time, the gear was great and they provided helpful instruction to both novices and longtime kayakers alike. The 360 degree views while you're on Prince William Sound - of glaciers, waterfalls, inlets and more, was unbelievable. Our guide was awesome and was able to quickly read the group and understand that we were up for more than just your standard trip. He provided just enough information about the area and what we were looking at, but not too much that it distracted us from our own adventure and discoveries. I loved this so much I even bought a sweatshirt to bring back to Brooklyn, NY to show off! Not to mention, we ran into our guide a few hours later and he took us on a hike in the area just for fun! 18. 5.0 Paddlers' Realm (69 reviews)
    - Go here
    Kayaking & Canoeing
    Paddlers' Realm image
I don’t always review tour agencies, but when I do, it’s because I think you should rethink your entire itinerary to include kayaking. It was a cold rainy summer morning in Whittier. We loaded the kayaks in a boat, wondering if it was foolish to go chasing glaciers in a kayak while the rain showed no signs of stopping. I looked at Ryan, our guide, as he smiled with a “we got this” smirk that can only be achieved after years of hard earned experience. By the end of the trip, the rain was just background white noise that made the whole experience even more relaxing. That’s the hallmark of a good guide, they can refocus your attention in such a way that even the cold and the rain are things you enjoy. If you’re looking for a kayak trip, book here. If you’re not, also book here and thank me later when you find yourself in the middle of the Sound, surrounded by wild life and admiring how the glacier has polished the walls of rock over millions of years. The scenery was breathtaking and the experience of gliding through the snow behind a team of dogs was exhilarating. The tour was well-organized, and the equipment provided was top-notch. We visited Icy Straight Point on our Celebrity Cruise at the end of July and were looking for something to do away from the cruise ship. This was a great option! Cody and his team were fantastic! We loved the beautiful scenery and all of the history of the Hoonah people we learned. The kayak and gear were all in great condition, but the staff of Fairweather Kayak Tours are what really made the experience incredible. This tour is definitely worth the money and something that will give you the quintessential Alaskan kayak experience. See more..

Crazy experience, did it solo when i was 15 (my grandma stayed in skagway). Incredible scenery and made some friends along the way. I was not prepared (no trekking shoes or poles), and it took around 6 hours. Views at the top are incredible, other than the lake there is a big patch of red/orange/brown grass that is straight out of a painting. Saw one black bear and what looked like wolves footprints. Review is from August 2014!! See more..

We arrived to Kaktovik on the second week of September to see the polar bears. By Sunny kindly help, we booked a year ahead 5 tours. Sunny was patient to all our requests and organized for us the perfect package for our needs. Jack and Steve were professional guides with a sense of humor and a lot of patience. They gave us warm clothes and navigate the boat to all the places that the bears were. Steve told us a lot about polar bears and their way of life. Before we booked the tours we afraid of the cold weather and the open boat but in the end, it was an advantage! We walked freely on the boat and has a 360-degrees angle for taking pictures. Thank you, Steve and Jack, for an unforgettable adventure! We cannot wait to book another tour to see the amazing polar bears See more..

    Happy Hooker Charters image
This was our second year fishing with Captain Mike and just like last year, it was a great experience and the fishing was awesome. Mike works harder and goes wherever he needs to put his guests on fish. The boat is certainly large enough for a party of 6 and handles the seas very well. If you don’t catch fish it is probably your own fault for not listening to the gentle coaching from Captain Mike and his deckhand. All in all it was a fun trip with our friends from Wyoming. Ear Mountain Charters image
We booked a half day halibut excursion after our previous booking called and cancelled on our group of 3. I was able to get on Captain Eric's boat. While the fishing was slow, we caught one halibut and one type of rock fish, we saw soo many humpback whales, stellar sea lions, herring fluttering on the water, the tour was worth every penny even with the lack of fish reeled in. You cannot guarantee to catch fish. Definitely recommend. See more..

Soldotna Historical Society & Museum image
Soldotna Historical Museum, located on Centennial Park Rd, features a wildlife museum and historic log village. Among the log buildings is the last territorial school built in 1958, where students studied by the light of gas lanterns, still hanging in the school. Soldotna's founding settlers arrived in 1947. The "habitable dwellings" which entitles two of these first homesteaders to 160 acres from what is now mid-town Soldotna are part of the village. How the latter-day pioneers lived is revealed in a collection of homestead artifacts and photos in the former Chamber of Commerce log tourist center. Damon Hall, a large building constructed for the Alaska Centennial, features an outstanding display of wildlife mounts with a background mural of these species' natural habitat. The museum is open May 15-Sept 15 of each year. There is free admission. The museum is operated by the Soldotna Historical Society & Museum, Inc.; a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the early history. See more..

Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Boat Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Stand Up Paddleboarding • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Tundra Adventure Charters image
I live and play in Alaska and I've seen and done many of the normal day trips. I had the opportunity to have Capt John and the Tundra bring us on a back country ski trip in Prince William Sound. I've toured around many of the south central ski areas, but this place is incredible. I can't say enough good things. Deepest snow contrasted by Sitka Spruce and tidal lagoons. Pillows, glaciers, you name it. To make it even better, we would come back to the Tundra, and Capt John would have large meals eating for us. All while situated alone in a remote bay with no one else in sigh. There was plenty of room to sleep and lounge. I will 100% do this trip again. the only thing I would change is booking a 4+ day trip instead of a 2 day trip. See more..

    Gotta Fish Charters image
My fiance and I had a wonderful time with captain Al and his first mate Flynn. We have been on many fishing charters in the gulf of mexico and off the east coast. Just from the interaction Captain Al and Flynn had with our group made it the most fun. We were able to catch nice size under halibut and large over halibut. My fiance's halibut was close to 100 pounds. We came home with almost 75 pounds of halibut fillets. the fish processing at reel em inn was seamless and very fair pricing. This made it extremely simple for us to bring our catch back to the east cost. we also had two nights lodging at reel em inn which was also very reasonable and good hospitality. I highly recommend this charter and if we are back in Alaska in the future I will book a trip with Al again. thanks Dustin and Jordan See more..

    Kaktovik Tours image
This review is late in coming, but I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to give Ketil the rave reviews he deserves! Seeing polar bears has long been on our bucket list, but the thought of fighting the crowds in Churchill had us looking for other options. A friend recommended Ketil and we're so glad she did. We were in Kaktovik the last of August and the first few days of September last year and saw lots of polar bears! Ketil's boat is heated and there is a small bathroom if needed. I would highly recommend him, or his fine son Martin, if you're looking for a unique place to see polar bears! See more..

  39. 5.0 Kenai Wild Fishing (46 reviews)
    - Great way to spend a day in Alaska...catching sockeye salmon!!
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Fishing Charters & Tours
    Kenai Wild Fishing image
We had a wonderful time catching sockeye salmon during our Alaskan vacation and we're getting to enjoy them now back home in Louisiana! We arranged our fishing trip in advance with Kenai Wild Fishing and opted for the combo salmon fishing trip. In retrospect we should have just booked to fish for Sockeye as the King were not biting at all which meant we paid extra for that stamp on our license as well as to put the rods out for no action at all. Nevertheless, we had a blast fishing and catching our limit on sockeye and Joe was the perfect guide in helping our group achieve that goal! Afterwards he also cleaned/filleted our fish and directed us where to take them to get them processed/frozen to bring home. What a wonderful day in the gorgeous Kenai River; thank you Joe!! The tour itself was a blast and my family enjoyed the combination UTV/ATV experience (we were all first-time drivers and Tommy couldn't have been nicer/more patient). At the end, we stopped at the store for some ice cream to top off our great time with Glacier View. Thanks guys for a great and muddy time! See more..

Our guide and his assistant were fun and kept us safe on our journey and it was lots of fun. What a great stop. While staying in Denali we wandered into this little shop and were so pleasantly surprised. There were hand designed T's and Sweatshirts with so many different logos. They were not your usual fare. Some jewelry and more. They also had a unique idea to send yourself or someone else a bark postcard, I have received mine and it is a great memento from my visit. The owner was there and so enthusiastic about his little shop and all the treasures, if you find yourself in Denali- Stop it. See more..

  46. 5.0 Copper Valley Air Service (42 reviews)
    - Fantastic team of people!
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Air Tours
    Copper Valley Air Service image
We were supposed to drive to Nabesna to spend five days in the back country but the road was washed out. We contacted Copper Valley Air last-minute and were able to charter a flight to Nabesna and it saved our trip! From the first phone call and including the dozen or so that followed, every single person we interacted with was just fantastic. We had a lot of logistical issues and they kept in contact with our pilot in Nabesna to make sure (to the best of anyone's ability given the dicey weather!) that the trip would work. We departed early getting there, and were picked up earlier than scheduled getting back. Cannot wait to go back and hire them again to get flown out to some of their favorite spots. Shout out to George for his flying expertise and his generosity in sharing his vast knowledge of the region and Alaska in general! See more..
  47. 5.0 Reel 'Em Inn - Cook Inlet Charters (41 reviews)
    - Halibut and hanging out
    Boat Tours
Reel 'Em Inn - Cook Inlet Charters image
This is the best Halibut charter on the peninsula. They will hook you up with one of their professional captains and all of them are all about getting alot of huge fish on the boat. They won't just take you to the quickie chicken hole. These guys know where the big ones are on any given day and will take the time to put you on them because they are out there every day. I stayed for a few days and saw alot of big fish get hung by every boat that went out..I saw some happy people come back one day with buckets full of clams too. They of course will also clean, package, freeze, and ship your catch in an onside processing center. I'd recommend staying in the comfy well equipped rooms or cabin the night before and after so you'll be there ready to go and then can chill and enjoy your catch on the excellent firepit, fully stocked BBQ pavillion. I can't say enough about this place. I can't wait to come back. See more..

    - One of my all-time favorites!
    Hiking Trails
    Herring Cove Trail image
LOVED this trail--just gorgeous! The parking lot was crowded, but we managed to find a spot. We did not have time to walk all around Beaver Lake, so I will have to try another day. We sat at the lake and enjoyed our lunch before heading back to the Herring Cove Trailhead parking area. See more..
