Fantastic Experience!

We are now 100% Team Petit! Absolutely an amazing experience with Nic and his dogs. Nic introduced us to each one, showed us how loving he is with them and how gently he trains them, and then took us for a great ride! Thank you so much Nic and Team Petit! We combined our trip to Nic’s with a glacier trip, organized by Outbound Heli Adventures of Palmer. Highly recommend them both!!!

Exceptioanl and unique experience with Alaska sled dogs.
This is our second visit to see Nic Petit and his dogs but the first time for most of the family (adult children and adult grandchildren). Eleven of us came for the tour and it was enjoyed by all. Nic and his helper (Leon I believe his name was) are both super personable and are very much in love with the dogs. They walked us through the entire kennel and introduce all of the dogs by name and told us a little about each. Nic then took us inside and showed us some of his tropies and pictures from when he is racing. He took everyone, 4 at a time, for a ride in a wheeled sled but everyone got to harness and hook a dog to the sled. It is amazing how excited the dogs are to get hooked up and run and how sad the dogs left behind are. They all love it. His dogs are super well cared for and love him as much as he loves them. They are his "kids". We also got to visit with his puppies and play with them - how adorable. If you want an exceptional, unique Alaska experience, be sure to include Nic Petit and The Alaska Dogstead Mushing Company in your places to visit. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Glamping in a yurt is more special than I ever imagined!
I booked a yurt for one week leading up to the Iditarod and absolutely loved it! This is truly "glamping" at its best. The property where it is located is just beautiful and had the bonus of Nic Petit's amazing sled dog team right there (and they love to interact with people--so sweet!). While I stayed there alone, my yurt had plenty of room (a queen size bed plus a set of bunk beds). The kitchenette was perfect for my stay with a microwave, minifridge, huge sink, a hot plate and plenty of dishes/glasses. The yurt was warm, the beds were comfortable, and the indoor toilet could be closed off with a door if there is more than one guest. An added bonus beyond these comforts was the absolute peace and tranquility of staying overnight in the area. Each morning I heard an owl (or maybe a bird?) and nothing else. After a good snow, hearing the snow slide down the yurt's roof was mesmerizing. This is a great place to stay and I will definitely return!
