  13. 4.5 Benson Vineyards Estate Winery (100 reviews)
    - Beautiful location, good wine, lower prices
    Sunday: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Benson Vineyards Estate Winery image
Went to 2 other wineries first. Benson was not cheap but about 25% less expensive than the others. They gave you 4 tastings for $15 and we split the tasting. At the other wineries, you only had 4 choices but here there were a lot more and you could pick the ones you wanted. They gave us 4 glasses and marked the initials of the wines on the bottom of the glasses. Other wineries poured all the wines in the same glass. We bought 2 bottles of wine and they had a really nice rose and a red blend for $100 a case. I made the mistake of specifying a 10% tip, forgetting that the cases of wine would be included in the total, my bad. Enjoyable experience. Went home with 26 bottles of wine for $300. No regrets. Wine was great when we tried it at home. See more..

We stopped in on a Monday afternoon on our way south from Seattle. Susie was a tremendous host. She enthusiastically hosted our wine tasting while sharing the interesting story behind this estate winery. Our group of 6 split the two wine tastings that were offered to get the full experience. We really enjoyed our tastings (some in our group were big fans of the Pinot Noir Rose and want to give it a shout out. Check out their party pack of 4). The Cab Syrah was also a fan favorite. When we were done, Susie confirmed our choice of lunch places in Zillah as top notch and sent us on our way with a suggestion for another winery with a beautiful view of the Columbia River Gorge (she was right again). The grounds are well kept, the views are postcard worthy and Two Mountain is close to other wineries if you have time. You can sit in or outside (in the shade or in the sun). Great place to spend some relaxing time with friends and family. See more..

Cascade Cliffs Vineyard & Winery image
If I could have only one wine club, it would be Cascade Cliffs. We discovered them by accident in 2018 returning from a wine trip to the Okanogan in British Columbia. The vineyard is nestled along the Columbia river west of Maryhill at the base of red rock cliffs with a small, rustic tasting room and beautiful outdoor seating. A lovely location and always fun to visit. We live two hours away from Hood River, which is the tasting room we visit most often. It’s well worth the trip and we always have a wonderful time. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. This winery has the best wine club discounts I’ve ever seen and the wines are rich, complex, delicious, and reasonably priced. Famous for their Barberas, I’m partial to the Mourvèdre, Shiraz, and Nebbiolo. If you love good reds, go here. See more..

Had a very good moment with our host Ashley, who was about to get her sommelier exam. We had a flight of 4 wines, which become 7 since it was the end of the day and she offered us to taste other wines. She gave us good infos (vinification process, grape locations) about Owen Roe's different cuvées. In the meantime, in the same building we were able to see workers into punching grapes since it was the beginning of harvest. Nice to see winemakers in process and with vines around the winery instead of drinking wine glasses in Walla Walla downtown, commented by someone not closely connected to winemakers. See more..
