The folks are Skookum are rad. Took a lesson from Tyler and it was the best lesson I've had in the past year. He breaks down the "pop up" one step at a time; and gives you rad real-time feedback in the water so you can course correct and improve. I stood up by the end after a year of trying. He was a gentle, sincere and thoughtful teacher. And the Seaview break is a hidden gem of a spot to keep coming back to. Steve was extremely responsive in replying to texts/calls to get set up as well. See more..

We (father/46, son/16 and son/14) were there for one day - surf beginners, but Ski/Snowboard experienced... Shawn taught us the essentials, reduced to the max, and after a two hour lesson we were riding the waves! Absolutely amazing!! Thank you Shawn! Shaka!!! BTW: Our son Jan became a surf addict now... Meanwhile he was surfing the French Westcoast and is planning his next Holiday to surf again :-) See more..
  4. 4.0 The Surf Shop Westport (4 reviews)
    - Best original shop on the coast!

Don’t pass this shop by without stopping in. Al and his surf shop has been a fixture on the coast forever, but like all small shops, needs support in order to keep doing what he does best. Which is local coast knowledge, rentals, and new gear. I bought my first wetsuit from him, and just bought another this last weekend, as well as wet gear for my son. We rented a board and hit the waves and had an awesome time. What a rush watching your son catch his first waves solo. It had been 16 years since I last travelled down here from Canada. Back then we were here every weekend we could because our surf is kinda blocked by the island. Coming back in, the shop is still the same, and Al is as fair and kind as always. This is what a surf shop is and has always been. If you want the original surf vibe from the coast, or stories from way back when it was just in its infancy in town, this is the place you need to hit. See more..
  5. 5.0 Center Fin Sup (1 review)
    - Standup Paddling Liberty Lake
    Surfing & Windsurfing

We reserved three spots on the morning tour and were provided lessons on how to use a standup paddle board and a two hour rental. Chris and Charlie taught us how to stand up, how to paddle and turn, and how to get back on if we fell off. (only 1 person fell in!) Liberty Lake was beautiful and the price was very reasonable. We may go back for a twilight tour. See more..
