4 Star Places To Visit in Utah, United States (50)
4.5Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park(7.351 reviews) - Do a tour, and drive the loop on your own Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
Stunning. If I were spiritual, I would add that in. A few cautions: currently the tribal elders decreed that all visitors have to exit the loop road by 7 pm. Unfortunately, sunset is now (Sep 1st) an hour later. When your tour ends, as sunset approaches, head to the The View Hotel - pass through the Gift Shop to the south east decks (where diners might eat if/when their restaurant re-opens; still under COVID restrictions) In fact, masks have to be worn in open air - including in tour vehicles. Highly recommend the Dineh Bekayah tour group; female owned (one of the only in the Valley) female managed, female guides. All very professional. Bring cash to save on 8% tax. Some tours done through Goulding’s etc inc the Navajo Nation entry fee of $20/ car w/ 2 pax. Request a refund if you already paid the latter online or while driving the 17 mile loop on your own beforehand.See more..
From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . What story will you discover on your visit to Dead Horse Point State Park?See more..

4.5Zion National Park(3.927 reviews) - Stunning views and exceptional hikes. Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
Another magnificent national park with spectacular views of rock formations, streams, wildlife and more. Plenty of trails to hike as well. Got to see the whole park this visit, despite some rather nasty weather conditions and snow. On this visit, the NPS aggressively plowed the main roads so even though there was an access delay due to road storm closures, they did reopen within 24 hours so I got to see the whole park. Beware the water though. You can read about that on the park's website. Oh and stop by or stay at the lodge and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. It's well worth the visit, as are all the National Parks although for different reasons. And if you get a park pass, it really saves you money should you plan to visit more than one park. I visited 4 on this adventure. Happy exploration!See more..
4.5Canyonlands National Park(3.807 reviews) - Exceeded Expectations…. Spent More than 3 hours Mountains • National Parks • Canyons
We arrived at Arches NP, and were told to come back in 3+ hours, since it was at capacity… We chose to see Canyonlands NP while we waited, which was not too far away…. Having not done adequate advanced research, we didn’t really know what to expect… It was a breathtaking and memorable drive. I traveled with an individual who has limitations, and most everything was visible from the car, or a short walk. There was a Ranger at one area educating the children (& adults). He was very engaging, and the kids’ faces were full of awe and appreciation. My IPhone took great pictures, but I truly wish I had my better camera….. PS- the America The Beautiful park pass is totally worth it!See more..

4.5Goblin Valley State Park(983 reviews) - Real Hidden Gem!! Magnificent Park!! Sunday: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours State Parks
Cowboys searching for cattle first discovered secluded Goblin Valley. Then in the late 1920s, Arthur Chaffin, owner/operator of the Hite ferry, and two companions were searching for an alternative route between Green River and Caineville. They came to a vantage point about a mile west of Goblin Valley and were awed by what they saw, five buttes and a valley of strange-shaped rock formations surrounded by a wall of eroded cliffs. In 1949, Chaffin returned to the area he called Mushroom Valley. He spent several days exploring the mysterious valley and photographing its scores of intricately eroded creatures. The area was acquired by the state of Utah and in 1964 was officially designated a state park. Goblin Valley State Park is a showcase of geologic history. Exposed cliffs reveal parallel layers of rock bared by erosion. Because of the uneven hardness of sandstone, some patches resist erosion much better than others. The softer material is removed by wind and water, leaving thousands of unique, geologic goblins. Water erosion and the smoothing action of windblown dust work together to shape the goblins. Bedrock is exposed because of the thin soil and lack of vegetation. When rain does fall, there are few plant roots and little soil to capture and hold the water, which quickly disappears, in muddy streams without penetrating the bedrock. Opened to the public as a state park in 1964. Park Elevation - 5,000 feetSee more..

We decided to hike the Narrows as a family of four (our kids are 8 and 10), and the staff at Zion Adventures were so friendly and informative. They answered all our questions, made sure our gear fit well, and even provided us with a map detailing the Narrows, what landmarks to look for, how far we could go with our kids, etc. They also sell a lot of gear you might have forgotten or not realized you needed so also a good place to stock up. Our kids even got a few stickers that one of the staff had designed herself! Price was affordable at $30 per person for boots, neoprene socks and a hiking stick. We rented our gear the night before and just had to return it by 7pm the following day. See more..

One of my favorite spots in the park. Easy access right up to the base and the surrounding structure. Or you can view it from the parking lot area if you are not very mobile. Watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade before venturing into the park and this location. It will enhance your appreciation of the site :-). 4.5Bluff Fort Historic Site(691 reviews) - A new museum which tells a fascinating story Historic Sites
We were staying in Bluff Utah and we decided to visit this museum one afternoon. A brand new building is used to tell an incredible story of Mormon pioneers in the late 1800s. The museum personnel are very friendly and very knowledgeable. The story of the hole in the wall wagon train adventure is incredible. The Museum and the outbuildings are first class, are well maintained and do an excellent job demonstrating the story that is being told. We ended up spending almost 2 hours there. Admission is free. The gift shop merchandise is high-quality and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the town.See more..
We spent 3 nights here back in 2021. Not sure why some reviews warn against RV's and tailers? We were in our 30ft. Class C RV and had zero problems. Numerous other RV's and campers were also there. There are no hookups so it is a total boondocking experience, but the restrooms were clean, people were quiet and respectful, and the star show at night is one we will never forget with the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon. Pull in and find a spot near the rim to park and camp. Several feature rock firepits but you need to bring your own firewood. Highly recommend spending at least one night or more and the price is hard to beat.See more..

4.5Alta Ski Area(650 reviews) - A Classic Sunday: Spent More than 3 hours Ski & Snowboard Areas
Alta continues to be a classic and classy place to ski. A very nice variety of terrain with short to non-existent lift lines and no snow boarders. The black runs are a pleasure to ski for a couple pushing 60 but remain challenging. They are doing an outstanding job of grooming. There had been practically no new snow for 2+ weeks but the runs were still in excellent shape on a good base (85+ inches). We got a little bit of snow while there (3 inches on night and 1-2 inches another) and they kept great care of it. Alta continues to be a great ski destination.See more..

On our road trip we drove by Wilson Arch, named after Joe Wilson, a local pioneer who had a cabin nearby. I was really excited as I wanted to see more arches and the rain caused us to turn around in the Arches National Park. And to see one so accesible was amazing. It was beautiful with the sun shining behind it. I clambered up the rocky surface and took in the view. The arch is cool. To think about how many years and the process nature used to make this architectural delight boggles the mind. Didn’t make it all the way up to the arch as I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to come down again since I’m afraid of heights. But there were people who did and it looked fun. If you’re short on time and want to avoid the long lines as Arches National Park, this is an accesible arch which is no less amazing.See more..

4.5Grandstaff Canyon Trail(630 reviews) - Gorgeous! It's an oasis in the dessert. Wear hiking sandals. Hiking Trails
GORGEOUS TRAIL!!! Our guide wore chaco sandals through this trail (we also rappelled to this trail). We crossed through the creek several times, and my Merrell hiking shoes were soaked. It was fine, but wish I had brought my sandals. If you make it all the way to the rapelling canyon, there's a stream of spring water that comes out of the canyons. Look for the wet ground. It's delicious! It's filtered water from the Colorado mountains. See more..
4.5Valley of the Gods(614 reviews) - Rugged, beautiful, quiet...and free! Geologic Formations
While the mesas, buttes, and rock formations may not be as spectacular as those at nearby Monument Valley, they are still amazing. The valley is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and there is no entrance fee. We drove west to east from U.S. Route 163, nine miles north of the town of Mexican Hat, to Utah State Route 261. The 17-mile winding gravel road is quite steep and bumpy (so glad we had a rental). There were a few other cars and some people camping, but at times it seemed we had Valley of the Gods all to ourselves, on the same day we had visited a very busy Monument Valley. Highly recommended if you have the time.See more..

snowbird is a fantastic place for families to ski together! the kids age 9,11 both advanced-intermediate skiers spent most of their time at Alta. They loved having the option of another ski hill just 10 min away by public bus. At snowbird, we had great food, and took the tram to the top. Kid's ski passes got them on the tram and adults bought tram tickets $28. Totally worth it! The only issue with Snowbird (and Alta) is that the pass is variable due to weather. When planning your trip make sure that you have some kind of trip insurance incase you get stuck in the canyon and miss your flight!!See more..
