    Coyote Gulch image
this hike has been on my bucket list for years and it did not disappoint. we did a 2 day hike from crack in the wall to sneaker route. did the hike June 10-11th so it was hot but only until you reach the canyon where temps and shade are much cooler as well as hiking through the stream with sandals. not much traffic till day 2 at Jacob Hamlin arch. plenty of placed to camp along the river, we decided to camp near black lagoon so we could explore the lagoon and indian ruins and art high up in the canyon without our packs. water was not a problem since we brought a water filter. , the hardest part was the hike out at sneaker route, rope are definatly needed with a full pack. also bring lots of water for the hike out in the heat we ran out with a mile to go in the 100 degree heat, just be safe. fantastic hike! highly recommended. Gunlock State Park image
This is a great little hike. There are a few steep areas, but with decent shoes and the ability to tolerate moderate exercise, it is a "can do" for most people. At the top of the trail, you'll be rewarded by a great little waterfall and nice views. If you are in the area, it's worth the couple of hours it takes to hike up, enjoy the scenery, take some photos, and hike down. I'd do this again. See more..

I have been visiting this lake for years. I love it. Easy to find located about an hour from Logan, Ut. Follow the road signs of the main road (about a mile or so once the speed limit jumps to 50 mph) and take a side road for 7 miles until you reach the lake. There is a permit fee to park your car at the top - $6. Wheelchair accessible for ~1/2 the lake and nature train. White Pine Lake and Mt. Naomi trail heads here as well. Both popular hikes. There are canoes, paddle boards, kayaks, and fisherman as a common sight here. Many wildflower sand dogs are welcome as long they are leashed. Great spot for families and friends of all ages. Very scenic area good for people of all ages and abilities. There are toilets at the lake (pit style). There is a campground nearby and a place for horse trailers just before you reach the campground to access the area. Come by for a visit! Spend a couple hours or all day. Much cooler than in the Valley. See more..

  19. 3.5 Millsite State Park (4 reviews)
    - Very nice park and facility.
State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Mill site SP camping area is between Price UT and Capital Reef National Park. Price it fair, rest rooms and showers are clean, host is friendly. We liked the loop back in spaces. We were there in June 2021 and due to the Utah drought, the lake water was WAY low. It must have been 150 yards to the water. Can’t blame the park for that. See more..

  22. 2.5 Monticello Lake (2 reviews)
    - Size matters
    Bodies of Water
Monticello Lake is a loftily named alpine pond in a medow along the paved "shortcut" over the mountain from Monticello to the Needles district. I expected more from something listed as a destination on all the Forest Service highway signs. Maybe it was worth a stop years ago when vehicles needed radiator water after chugging up the pass, but there is so much else in the area to see and do it barely rates a glance as you pass by. 23. 2.0 Piute Lake State Park (1 review)
    - Deserted
State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Piute Lake State Park image
First went down a dirt road because I could see the bathrooms. Scary bathrooms. Then parked under a tree and walked down to the lake which was pretty far away. I'm guessing the water is really low. It was incredibly windy. Not much to see. Could hear birds but not see them. No cool rocks or shells or anything. Was worried my car would get stuck in the loose sand, but made it out ok. There was literally only one other person there. Too windy to do anything. Then I went further down the main road and saw some birds on that end. That's about it. Apparently you can camp there, but there are no facilities at all. See more..
