Things to do & places to visit in Utah, United States

Welcome to “The Greatest Snow on Earth” – Utah’s paradise for all outdoor enthusiasts! As host of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City knows how to entertain winter fun seekers. Snowboarders and skiers head for miles of spectacular slopes with deep fluffy powder and breathtaking mountain views. The Olympic Park provides family-friendly ski programs, rides and shows. Alta, Sundance, Snowbird and Brighton are other popular destinations for cross country and Alpine skiers. Those alluring snowy slopes turn to rolling wildflower fields in the summer. Golfing, fishing, horseback riding and water sports replace chilly outdoor sports adventures. Corral the family, pack a picnic and catch one of the ski lifts for an afternoon of hiking or mountain biking along scenic trails. Head to Salt Lake City, where Temple Square hosts millions of visitors a year. Bryce Canyon and Arches National Park are famous for surreal landscapes from horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters to unusual rock formations and hundreds of natural sandstone arches. Closer to home, wander along the quaint main streets of mountain villages to browse, shop and enjoy lunch at an outdoor café. At the end of the day, head home for an outdoor barbecue and an evening of games. Home rentals blend privacy, space and comfort with the cost-saving advantage of eating some meals at home.

- 5.0 Arches National Park (10.8k reviews)
-Amazing
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks • Hiking Trails • Geologic Formations
Get your timed entry pass $2 at recreation.gov in advance, OR many passes open up the day before. I would still advise an early slot as when we left around 1230, the queue was over 90 min long according to the park signs. Something is not working smoothly! We did the viewing point to Delicate Arch, walked to Landscape Arch and the two others enroute and finished with the windows and double arch. I had wanted to hike to Delicate after reading that it had the 'best payoff' but I'm glad we didn't. There are plenty of arches to see without dragging your family in 100deg heat that far. Tip - go the Moab diner after your hike. Amazing diner food and service. Very popular. See more..
- 5.0 Bryce Canyon National Park (9.038 reviews)
-Beauty beyond belief
Spent More than 3 hours Geologic Formations
This is my favorite National Park! It is so unique and majestic pictures don’t do it justice. Highly recommend going early to watch the sunrise light up the Hoodoos and an inner canyon adventure aboard a horse or mule with Canyon Trail Rides. No matter what activity you choose you’ll be amazed at the beauty of this park See more..
- 5.0 The Narrows (3.626 reviews)
-One of the Greatest Day Hike Trails in the USA
National Parks • Hiking Trails
True to its name, The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. This challenging hike is one of Zion’s most popular trails, taking you through towering walls of Navajo sandstone that rise up to 2,000 feet. Along the 16-mile hike, you’ll be rewarded with nature’s raw beauty, from the stunning zebra stripes adorning the cliffs to the spectacular slot canyon scenery. Be prepared with water shoes, walking sticks, and waterproof bags as the trail will take you through the Virgin River. Check for flash flood warnings before starting and consider a private tour to tackle the trail safely with a professional guide. – Tripadvisor See more..

We took the 3.5 hour Sunset Tour. Toney, our Navajo guide, took great care of us. He is SO knowledgeable. He shared names and stories about each of the monuments, answered all of our questions and gave us great photo tips along the way. At one point, Toney realized that a bad storm was coming (a summer monsoon). He calmly guided us to an alcove in a rock wall, where we could watch the storm (and the waterfalls that suddenly appeared), but stay safe and dry until the rain stopped. As we left the park, we were greeted by a clear, bright double rainbow. It was magical. See more..

-Amazing and authentic experience in Monument Valley
Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Cultural Tours • Night Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Archaeology Tours
I was fortunate enough to enjoy a spiritual retreat and then sunset tour through Monument Valley last week and it was nothing short of spectacular. Gary and his lovely wife Dawn couldn't have been nicer. The Shaman they brought to speak to us was so learned and interesting and everyone was welcoming and open. It was a magical night and I HIGHLY recommend spending this with the team of Navajo Spirit Tours. See more..

- 5.0 Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (1.496 reviews)
-Friendly animals, friendly staff
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Best Friends Animal Society is the only national animal welfare organization focused exclusively on ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters. An authority and leader in the no-kill movement, Best Friends runs the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals, as well as lifesaving programs in partnership with rescue groups and shelters across the country. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from 17 million per year to about 4 million. That means there are still over 9,000 dogs and cats killed in shelters each day. And we will not be done until that number is zero. Best Friends has the knowledge, technical expertise and on-the-ground network to end the killing and Save Them All(R). See more..
- 5.0 ATV and Jeep Adventure Tours (1.458 reviews)
-The Ride of a Lifetime!
Friday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
As an older guy with no ATV experience, I elected to ride in a 2-seater with my guide Nagel driving. Thanks to his driving skills, I got the ride of a lifetime, I imagine other single drivers were envious when they saw us. Nagel was attentive to my safety and especially to what I expected on our 4-hour ride, taking me to many interesting rock formations and spectacular views. He was full of information from the composition of the sand to names for the lilies we walked to in a small canyon. I highly recommend Nagel as a guide. The company was responsive to my questions and concerns. I booked through a third party, which was fine, but dealing directly with ATV and Jeep Adventure Tours would be your best choice. On my weeklong Grand Canyon/Las Vegas vacation, these 4 hours were the most memorable. Thanks to the company and Nagel for making a dream come true! See more..

-Wonderful photography tours in Monument Valley
Friday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Historical & Heritage Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Photography Tours
We took two excellent photo tours with Dineh Bekeyah while in Monument Valley. Both were with Harry Nez who is very personable and had wonderful stories of growing up in the valley and shared his knowledge of the Dine people, culture and language. Harry is also a wonderful photographer and had great suggestions about both composition and technical aspects of photography. The first day was a morning tour through the valley to many wonderful locations. The second day was the highlight of our trip with a late afternoon/evening/sunset trip up to Hunt's Mesa. It was quite a 4-wheel drive adventure getting to the top of the mesa and the views were spectacular. It was an amazing vantage point to over look the entire valley. We highly recommend Dine Bekeyah Tours and especially Harry Nez. See more..

I surprised my loved one with a two hour ride. She had no idea what we were doing, and was blown away with how awesome the whole experience was. When we arrived we were greeted with enthusiasm and wonderful hosts. I took the opportunity to propose to my loved one and the guide was quick to grab a picture of me down on one knee handing the ring to her. I had never been on a horse before and the horses were very well behaved. I was very impressed with how the whole experience went and would recommend Rocky Mountain Outfitters to anyone that wants to have an awesome time for a great price. I will definitely be using this service in the future. Fantastic job! See more..

-An amazing and unique experience with a fun guide!
Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Canyoning & Rappelling Tours • 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
My partner and I went on the East Zion Jeep Tour and it was such a wonderful experience! Our guide, Teresa, was a very skilled driver and told us a lot about the areas we drove through. The jeep had great suspension which made the off-road terrain a lot of fun in the snow. We stopped at an overlook which had spectacular views of Zion from farther up, and Teresa let us take our time there before heading back. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see parts of Zion that are less travelled. See more..
- 5.0 Corona Arch (1.025 reviews)
-Worth the Effort!
Geologic Formations
For me, 59 and carrying more weight than I should, found the hike to be challenging. My wife who is in better shape and other younger people we ran into on the trail seemed to be manage very well. Awesome views and some adrenaline pumping moments make this a memorable hike. We actually got caught in a rain/hail storm on the hike back. We had to take shelter under a pinion tree! The rain added a degree of difficulty but we made it. Along the the drive, stop at Thompson Springs to view the petroglyphs. See more..
- 5.0 Canyon Trail Rides (1.001 reviews)
-Highly recommend for a Unique experience!
Horseback Riding Tours
We did a 1 hour tour on 4/4/2022. Our tour guide was Kitty and she was entertaining, informative, and very thoughtful. We did the 9:30am tour and it was chilly so we needed a jacket and kids even wore winter gloves. We were a group of 5 and most of us never ridden on a horse so this was a very new and fun experience. My kids thought it was so cool to ride the horses across the river. Make sure to read the instructions on parking carefully! It was nice that they allow us to drive down the private "shuttle only" road to the horses. I highly recommend this very unique experience. It was the highlight of our trip! See more..

- 4.5 Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park (7.351 reviews)
-Do a tour, and drive the loop on your own
Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
Stunning. If I were spiritual, I would add that in. A few cautions: currently the tribal elders decreed that all visitors have to exit the loop road by 7 pm. Unfortunately, sunset is now (Sep 1st) an hour later. When your tour ends, as sunset approaches, head to the The View Hotel - pass through the Gift Shop to the south east decks (where diners might eat if/when their restaurant re-opens; still under COVID restrictions) In fact, masks have to be worn in open air - including in tour vehicles. Highly recommend the Dineh Bekayah tour group; female owned (one of the only in the Valley) female managed, female guides. All very professional. Bring cash to save on 8% tax. Some tours done through Goulding’s etc inc the Navajo Nation entry fee of $20/ car w/ 2 pax. Request a refund if you already paid the latter online or while driving the 17 mile loop on your own beforehand. See more..
- 4.5 Dead Horse Point State Park (5.525 reviews)
-Sunrise!!!
Friday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM State Parks
From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . What story will you discover on your visit to Dead Horse Point State Park? See more..

- 4.5 Zion National Park (3.927 reviews)
-Stunning views and exceptional hikes.
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
Another magnificent national park with spectacular views of rock formations, streams, wildlife and more. Plenty of trails to hike as well. Got to see the whole park this visit, despite some rather nasty weather conditions and snow. On this visit, the NPS aggressively plowed the main roads so even though there was an access delay due to road storm closures, they did reopen within 24 hours so I got to see the whole park. Beware the water though. You can read about that on the park's website. Oh and stop by or stay at the lodge and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. It's well worth the visit, as are all the National Parks although for different reasons. And if you get a park pass, it really saves you money should you plan to visit more than one park. I visited 4 on this adventure. Happy exploration! See more..
- 4.5 Canyonlands National Park (3.807 reviews)
-Exceeded Expectations….
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains • National Parks • Canyons
We arrived at Arches NP, and were told to come back in 3+ hours, since it was at capacity… We chose to see Canyonlands NP while we waited, which was not too far away…. Having not done adequate advanced research, we didn’t really know what to expect… It was a breathtaking and memorable drive. I traveled with an individual who has limitations, and most everything was visible from the car, or a short walk. There was a Ranger at one area educating the children (& adults). He was very engaging, and the kids’ faces were full of awe and appreciation. My IPhone took great pictures, but I truly wish I had my better camera….. PS- the America The Beautiful park pass is totally worth it! See more..
- 4.5 Deer Valley Resort (2.606 reviews)
-Beautiful but definitely not a hometown feeling and be prepared to bring a box of masks
Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Ski & Snowboard Areas
Deer Valley in Park City, Utah is designed to be different, an experience tailored to be as unique as each one of our guests. Deer Valley limits the number of skiers on the mountain each day and regularly sells out of lesson products. We encourage you to purchase your lift tickets, lodging, ski lesson and rental products in advance. Not only is this important to find the best availability for the items that you want, but advance purchase also offers the highest savings. Make your arrival experience easier by guaranteeing your spot on the mountain and in lessons. See more..
