  5. 4.5 Sego Canyon Petroglyphs (88 reviews)
    - Ancient Aliens
    Ancient Ruins
    Sego Canyon Petroglyphs image
I’ve seen these petroglyphs on the show “Ancient Aliens.” I’m not convinced they’re ETs — you try drawing on rock with primitive tools and avoid bulging heads and big eyes — but the earthly or not it’s worth a visit. You drive a few miles down a bumpy dusty road into a canyon. There aren’t signs but you quickly spot the petroglyphs yourself — they’re in a few different spots. We saw some working cowboys hearding cattle through too which was cool. See more..
  6. 4.5 Anasazi Ridge Petroglyphs (84 reviews)
    - Petroglyphs and Stunning views
    Ancient Ruins
    Anasazi Ridge Petroglyphs image
The trail up to the petroglyphs is well marked and laid out in a meandering fashion that is conducive to an easy hike (and nice for trail biking). The views of the surrounding hills is stunning with much red rock and lava flows abounding. The best petroglyphs are slightly off the trail near the top and involve a bit of scrambling among the rocks but well worth the effort. See more..

    16 Room Cliff House image
Used to visit here as a kid, but after swinging bridge got swept away I thought you couldn't access this anymore. Was very surprised that there is a way around and took my little family out there, and it is still one of the best indian ruins I have ever been to. you probably need an all wheel drive car to go here. We were in a truck. See more..
  8. 4.5 House On Fire (13 reviews)
    - Magnificent Ruin with a marvelous walk through the canyon
    Ancient Ruins
    House On Fire image
In the autumn, the walk to the House on Fire is marvelous. The canyon is beautiful and the walk is not difficult except for a few places where you cross the creek. There are places where the bottom of the creek is damp. The House on Fire is up on a large rock outcrop which has beautiful yellow and red striations which make the cliff appear to be on fire. The hike is well worth it and the photography along both the canyon and at the ruins is incredible. See more..

  10. 5.0 The Bug House (2 reviews)
    - Cool Little Store
    Ancient Ruins
We found this store on a map when we were researching car charging stations for our trip over labor day weekend. Intrigued by the name we decided to stop by and see what it was, as my husband really likes rock shops. This was a cool little store, they had some larger rocks, and lots of smaller ones. Some were local, but I think several others were imported from other areas. The shop wasn't huge, but my kids and husband enjoyed picking out a rock each. See more..
  11. 5.0 Cave Canyon Indian Towers (1 review)
    - An impressive fragile Ancestral Puebloan site!
    Ancient Ruins
    Cave Canyon Indian Towers image
Cave Towers is an impressive Ancestral Puebloan site consisting of the fragile remains of seven structures sitting atop the rim of Mule Canyon. This particular site dates to roughly 1250 CE and the arrangement of structures – some of which were likely towers while others were above-ground kivas – may imply defensive uses. These Indian Towers are accessed from south side of Hw95 in between Mile Marker 102 and 103. There is a gate to a spur road that we open and drive through. The gate has to be closed once we pass through. The spur road should be considered 4 WD only but the road is short and it’s easy to park near the gate and walk to the towers. There are seven towers in various states of decay located on the left (east) and right (west) sides of the rim. Much of the first storey of one of the towers on the east rim is in very good shape. On the west rim a partial wall with a doorway remains. The other towers are basically piles of rubble. There is no way of knowing the exact purpose of these towers. The towers were multi-storied and their height undoubtedly provided great observation opportunities. See more..
