We took the 3.5 hour Sunset Tour. Toney, our Navajo guide, took great care of us. He is SO knowledgeable. He shared names and stories about each of the monuments, answered all of our questions and gave us great photo tips along the way. At one point, Toney realized that a bad storm was coming (a summer monsoon). He calmly guided us to an alcove in a rock wall, where we could watch the storm (and the waterfalls that suddenly appeared), but stay safe and dry until the rain stopped. We took two excellent photo tours with Dineh Bekeyah while in Monument Valley. Both were with Harry Nez who is very personable and had wonderful stories of growing up in the valley and shared his knowledge of the Dine people, culture and language. Harry is also a wonderful photographer and had great suggestions about both composition and technical aspects of photography. The first day was a morning tour through the valley to many wonderful locations. The second day was the highlight of our trip with a late afternoon/evening/sunset trip up to Hunt's Mesa. It was quite a 4-wheel drive adventure getting to the top of the mesa and the views were spectacular. It was an amazing vantage point to over look the entire valley. My partner and I went on the East Zion Jeep Tour and it was such a wonderful experience! Our guide, Teresa, was a very skilled driver and told us a lot about the areas we drove through. The jeep had great suspension which made the off-road terrain a lot of fun in the snow. We stopped at an overlook which had spectacular views of Zion from farther up, and Teresa let us take our time there before heading back. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see parts of Zion that are less travelled.See more..

My wife and I took two 1/2 day tours. The first was led by Nate who took us to the River House ruins along with a number of other sites and it was an amazing half day adventure. On day two we took a half-day excursion with Spencer who took us to the Cave Towers, House on Fire ruins, and a short side trip into an area with dinosaur tracks. I had an amazing experience with Adrift down the Yampa this May! I was lucky enough to go on this trip because of Adrift’s partnership with Western Colorado University’s Recreation and Outdoor Education department. The two have been collaborating for the past 22 years which has allowed many students, including myself, to take a once in a lifetime trip down the Yampa. The guides on our trip were amazing in allowing us to learn about whitewater rafting and expedition planning while also taking care of us at the same time. All the while, the Yampa River provided a perfect place to disconnect and recharge over the course of the week. I personally had a rejuvenating experience and was able to take away some positive ideas that I still think about on a daily basis. On the last couple days of the trip we shared a few poems that spoke to me and I now have a couple new mantras to say to myself through hard times. We were referred by our hotel to Sleeping Rainbow Adventures for a jeep tour and we were not disappointed! Erin was our guide and she was very knowledgeable, despite her short time in the area. This points directly at the owners and their vast knowledge and ensuring their guides are just as informed. We recommend the 5-7 hour tour if you are seeing Capitol Reef as there is plenty of time to get out, walk around the sites and take lots of pictures! We thought 5+ hours would be a long ride, but in fact it went by so fast. We originally sought to do a Narrows your but thunderstorms overnight put the river in flash flood warning. Our guide quickly adapted and helped us to decide on an all day hiking tour as a ‘substitute’. But the word does not do it justice. Our guide turned lemons into lemonade with her positive attitude and problem solving. Not only was the all day hike a success, but it was made more so by the evenings previous rain. Our guide led us to areas that rarely experience fall waterfalls but with the rainstorm, we saw some amazing sites. The day cleared up and we did roughly 10 miles including the Emerald pools and just up near Angels Landing. According to my wife’s Apple Watch we climbed 100 flights of stairs! Our guide also negotiated with the equipment rental to allow us to keep our equipment for another day and gave us advice on doing the Narrows ourselves.See more..
Jim took our family of five (including 8, 6, and 5 year old children) on a slot canyon tour outside of Escalante. He catered the tour to our children's abilities while still challenging them. He taught us all basic climbing maneuvers that assisted in moving through the tight canyons. He was friendly and fun. Of a 16 day road trip, this tour was the highlight of our vacation. 3, 50’ish ladies just completed the Capital Reef, 5 day Horsebackriding/camping trip with Hondoo. We all agree our horses were some of the best we have ever ridden. Before embarking on out trip we bombarded Pat with so many emails and phone calls on what her protocols were to keep us all safe during COVID. They did a spectacular job. We were very comfortable with all the precautions. Our tents and supplied bedding were top notch. Our group was joined by another group of 3 who had various dietary restrictions and requests. All were addressed and executed to everyone’s expectations, not an easy task! We have taken several trips like this one in different states. 2 days of hiking with Utah Slick Rock Guides was the highlight of our trip to southern Utah and we highly recommend it if you are in the area. Thanks for 2 awesome trips. Shawn met us early so we could photograph the Temple of the Sun at sunrise and then we continued on for an extended tour of Cathedral Valley. He has great knowledge of the history, geology and best photo spots on the tour. Shawn was patient with my photo exercise and very easy to get along with. He has great communication/personal skills and answered all our questions with enthusiasm. With 25+ years in the area, he is well informed about all aspects of adventure in the area. We liked the Cathedral Valley tour so much, we did a UTV tour up Sulphur Basin with Shawn. Both tours had spectacular landscape scenery and Shawn delivered the best of it to us in style. Family of 4 (children 11/14) did the half day hike with lunch and every bit of it was awesome! Intro with our great guide Phil and his llama 101 overview - perfect. His knowledge of the area was so helpful & answered all our questions, along with a good sense of humor. We hiked about 1.5 mile to a lunch spot near a beautiful big Ponderosa Pine. He fixed up a spread that our family loved, good fresh food and a variety of drink options. And the hike back was a different route - enjoyed getting to see so much of this area. We got to give the llamas treats after and they welcomed our visit back later in the day to see them again as we were staying on the same property. This was no doubt a highlight of our trip. We went rock climbing and rappelling with a youth group of 20 young men. Lane, Colter, and Mick were excellent guides. They were very patient and kind with the youth and could relate well with them. Because of their excellent skill many of the young men were able to face their fears and do something outside of their comfort zone. We rented two jetskis for a full day. Paperwork and launch was super smooth thanks to Mike. We were on the water in less than an hour. Jetskis were brand new (2022 Sea Doo GTX 130) and great on gas. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our hike with Jeff. He took us slick rock hiking in a location that we could never have accessed with our rental SUV. The hike was just the right length with the right level of challenge. We visited a secluded slot canyon and took a break in a very special small cave. That was all amazing as was the weather. What put the hike over the top was Jeff. He really listened to our description of the type of hike that we wanted to do. He's also a great guy. Wonderful to talk to with a great sense of perspective. I participated in the Wild Utah Tours Get Mirnavated 2022 Retreat. I can sum up my experience in one phrase: life-changing. Shanti and her team guided a group of 25 women through some of the most breathtaking landscape on this continent. Activities were tailored to the abilities and interests of our diverse group. Dining experiences included with our package were delicious, and housing accommodations were comfortable and welcoming. I loved having access to staff members with a great variety of skills, from trail running coaches to search & rescue to geology to photography to palentology to painting to guided meditation, and came away from the week with a deeper knowledge of the wilderness in southern Utah, better skills as a runner and hiker, and a deep connection to the women who shared this journey. Louis is like a breath of fresh air in this highly commercialized industry. We hiked to various sites with him for 3 days and he taught us so much: from native flora to ancient history. We even picked up a few Navajo words. He is a messenger of his culture, endangered plans, animals, and desert biosoil. We appreciated so much what he does out there - pure magic. Plus, we wouldn't be able to find all the sites that we explored with him. We are so hooked on the Native American history after this trip that now when I am back in California, I instinctively keep looking for sites, building rocks, pottery, and ancient ash :)).
