  4. 4.5 Alta Ski Area (650 reviews)
    - A Classic
Monday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Spent More than 3 hours Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Alta Ski Area image
Alta continues to be a classic and classy place to ski. A very nice variety of terrain with short to non-existent lift lines and no snow boarders. The black runs are a pleasure to ski for a couple pushing 60 but remain challenging. They are doing an outstanding job of grooming. There had been practically no new snow for 2+ weeks but the runs were still in excellent shape on a good base (85+ inches). We got a little bit of snow while there (3 inches on night and 1-2 inches another) and they kept great care of it. Alta continues to be a great ski destination. See more..

  6. 4.5 Snowbird (604 reviews)
    - Snowbird in January
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Trams • Ski & Snowboard Areas • Beach & Pool Clubs
    Snowbird image
snowbird is a fantastic place for families to ski together! the kids age 9,11 both advanced-intermediate skiers spent most of their time at Alta. They loved having the option of another ski hill just 10 min away by public bus. At snowbird, we had great food, and took the tram to the top. Kid's ski passes got them on the tram and adults bought tram tickets $28. Totally worth it! The only issue with Snowbird (and Alta) is that the pass is variable due to weather. When planning your trip make sure that you have some kind of trip insurance incase you get stuck in the canyon and miss your flight!! See more..

  11. 4.5 Powder Mountain (331 reviews)
    - Powder Mountain hidden treasure best hosts ever
Monday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Powder Mountain image
My group of 7 Canadian women skied at Powder Mountain for 5 days at the end of March. We love Powder Mountain, no line ups ever and fantastic groomed runs, but this ski trip went from great to wonderful because of the hosts that skied with us. Andy, Dan, Hank and Doug. Andy was amazing He organized our week there and guided us to the best hills and fantastic conditions. More than just hosts this group of hosts have become our friends, we look forward to skiing with them and to hear the stories of their lives over the past year between ski trips. Another perk was that Andy brought his web cam and videotaped us so we were able to post for all our friends on Facebook. Powder Mountain is a hidden treasure. Rustic but that is part of its charm. 12. 4.0 Soldier Hollow (179 reviews)
    - Good winter activities
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Soldier Hollow image
We went tubing here last year and had a blast! This year we couldn't get a tubing reservation, so we did the cross country skiing instead (basically the same price for either activity for our family). It was affordable for skiing (but I thought expensive for tubing) and a good way to introduce our kids to skiing and learn they don't like it and they're a bunch of wimps. I'd like to come back again and do either activity in the future. See more..

  15. 3.5 Nordic Valley Ski Resort (63 reviews)
    - I still call it Wolf Mountain...
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Nordic Valley Ski Resort image
This is the place to go if you are just starting out as a beginner skier or boarder. Why you ask? Well, it's cheap. It's not busy. It's not too steep. It's not too scary. It's not too far away from Salt Lake City (just a bit over an hour drive). Also, night skiing is available. 4 stars seems about right for what you pay and what you end up. Bear in mind that this is a very small resort at about one-third the size of most medium size mountain resorts. But the advantage there is that it's must less intimidating and less lightly to give you that "where am I" feeling when you ski to the bottom. Lift tickets are priced way under $100 (typically between $21 and $80 depending on the day). One other thing... their food prices are quite reasonable when you compare them to the other mountain resorts in Utah. See more..

30 min Away from Logan City. I went there to try skiing for the first time. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The lounge was war and well equipped with a nice restaurant to have some snacks. The only thing I did not like was the beginner track (not the magic carpet) I did not feel its really good for beginners as it was narrow. See more..
