Snowbird in January

snowbird is a fantastic place for families to ski together! the kids age 9,11 both advanced-intermediate skiers spent most of their time at Alta. They loved having the option of another ski hill just 10 min away by public bus. At snowbird, we had great food, and took the tram to the top. Kid's ski passes got them on the tram and adults bought tram tickets $28. Totally worth it! The only issue with Snowbird (and Alta) is that the pass is variable due to weather. When planning your trip make sure that you have some kind of trip insurance incase you get stuck in the canyon and miss your flight!!

Great doing Snowbird in the summer
We used the bird bundle with our children and grandchildren last week. It was great! It cost $34 a piece, you got unlimited rides for 3 hours, and they limited each 3 hour group to 100 people, so it felt very safe. EVERYONE was wearing masks(which were required), even though it was outside. The mountain coaster was the favorite ride, so I would advise that you do that first and then over and over, as many times as you want. The Alpine Slides were very busy the first 30 minutes, and then after that they weren't busy at all. The trampoline/bungee jump wasn't busy at the beginning, but the last hour the waits were 15 minutes or so. The whole experience was very fun for everyone involved, and I would definitely advise doing this with children ages 3 - 12. For adults and teenagers, it would be ok but not as amazing.

An Exciting Mountain with a Predilection for Powder, Drawing Crowds
Salt Lake City is blessed with an array of snowy mountain destinations. Snowbird offers a high density of blue, black and double black runs for the advanced boarder and skier making it a great destination. The COVID era requirements, however, compromise the experience by slowing the lift lines, creating waits where otherwise there would be none. After a night of snow, the runs were nicely groomed the following day and previously moguled runs had been smoother out; nice things to see for your lift dollar. I'll return to Snowbird post-COVID, looking forward to spending more time on the mountain and not in line.
