This was a beautiful Hike to Bloods Lake. Many wild flowers and gorgeous viewpoints for pictures. We had a family of 5, (10,11,& 15) they all loved it. It's not too long & is only a little difficult when you are getting closer to the lake. They lake is picturesque. You can take swimsuits & take a swim in the very cool water. There is a rope swing at one end. It is a busier hike, but it didn't bother us at all. We saw people hiking with inflatable paddle boards (great idea!). Great spot to spend an afternoon or have a picnic. All ages here- toddlers to adults. We will go again :)See more..
5.0Scenic Byway Route 12(398 reviews) - A beautiful route through the National Parklands and Canyons of Utah. Spent More than 3 hours Scenic Drives
When on a recent road-trip to take in the Zion, Bryce Canyon and Colorado National Monument Parks I drove the full length on the Scenic Byway 12 in Utah. It is clearly marked with a large sign when to enter it (at either end). It really is a fabulous route through some stunning scenery. Canyons, mountains, arches, plains... Just beautiful. The road is in excellent condition too and very well maintained and marked. I would certainly take this route again next time I am visiting Utah and the National Parks. A road for those that love to drive... Awesome.See more..
While the more northern areas like Islands in the Sky are overrun, hardly anyone was in this scenic area in April, 2022. We had the final overlook all to ourselves. The scenery is very different than the more northern areas, but is just as beautiful. Newspaper rock which is acessible on the road into the Needles district is full of many interesting petroglyphs.See more..
I love the drive along 129. I stayed 6 nights at Rustic Inn. It was a good place. Small, good pool, centrally located, clean and courteous. The drive to Castle Rock Valley along 129 was beautiful. That Loop back to Moab was great. I came into Moab from Cisco and through the river canyon on 129. Arches NP, Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands NP were well worth the trip. Potash Road was interesting particularly near sunset when all the rock climbers are out. You have to eat at the Sunset Grill and catch a sunset. Breakfast at the Moab Diner is very good. Lots of places to visit. Tom Till's gallery of photographs and many more shops. I had a great time. I am planning to go back for 4 more days next year. I have to have my annual dose of red rock".See more..
5.0Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive(253 reviews) - Relax and ride the shuttle! Spent More than 3 hours Scenic Drives
We stayed at Ruby's Inn RV park when in Bryce. I had no idea about the shuttle until check in. There is a stop right at the RV park that takes you right to the park and to all the major stops. What a great way to experience the park and have someone else do the driving! You can hop on and off at the stops, shuttles come every 10-15 minutes. Or you can walk in between the stops if you prefer. We did a mix of both depending on the distance between stops. The trails are a little scary, I am not a fan of heights and my two teenagers liked to get too close to the edge for my comfort...but we did it! We went right before sunset, park was not crowded at all. What a great way to enjoy this park! See more..
Easily accessible just outside of Moab, the scenic drive through The Arches was a spectacular experience. When we travelled there in late August, the park still was using a time reservation system but we were able to find many openings even at the last minute however they did turn people away who approached the entrance without a reservation. We used our senior national park pass, so there was no additional fee to enter the park. The drive was very manageable with a paved road throughout. There are many places to pull over or pull off and park so that you can take in the views and land formations. Some of the more popular areas were quite crowded and finding a parking place did require circling around a few times. Some of the formations do require significant hiking for access but others are readily available with short walks or from a distance. Restrooms are scattered throughout the park. There is a very large visitor center at the entrance. It was certainly worth the drive.See more..
We took the scenic drive through the town of Kamas, up to Mirror Lake and back down through Kamas, Heber and Provo. We picked the first week in October for some leaf peeping, and were not disappointed! The lower two-thirds of the route was bright with yellow aspens and gorgeous fall foliage. As you went up in elevation, you replaced the fall foliage with mountain, waterfall and lake views. Be careful at Provo Falls, the large rocks walking toward the viewing area are flat and smooth, and are very slippery when wet. You definitely know you are up in elevation, as the temperature dropped significantly into the low 40’s. We actually saw some very wet snow fall at the lake for several minutes! We had WiFi all the way up, but lost it until we returned back in Kamas. We really enjoyed this stunning scenic drive, and also recommend driving the route through Heber Valley and Provo Canyon for more lovely fall scenery.See more..

What an awesome trip thru the Loop! You are right in the middle of the rock formations and they are up close and spectacular. Take the hour or less to make the loop but make sure the driver keeps their eye on the road! We went in the south entrance and then headed back south towards Vernal and the scenery is just awesome. Take the time to make this loop and you won't be disappointed.See more..
We're reduced to reviewing roads. Well, let's see. It's gravel. You'll want to drive 20-30 MPH. I gave it 5/5 because it exists and you can drive a normal car on it, allowing ordinary people access to good trailheads.See more..
4.5Hell's Backbone Road(78 reviews) - Stunning drive, but not for the faint-hearted. Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Scenic Drives
Wow! This is an amazing drive on top of the ridgeline, with a lot of twists and turns, but some of the best scenery in Utah off each side of your car. Be warned, however, there are no guardrails for a long stretch, and one part is nothing more than the 2-lane road, a small shoulder on each side, and....that's it. Either side you look down into chasms. It's fantastic, but not for the skittish. Best not to drive large trucks or RVs on here! Also you need a lot of faith in the person driving.See more..
4.5Grand Wash Road(67 reviews) - An interesting ride Scenic Drives
One of the most remarkable features of our national parks is that they all have scenic drives. Many of those drives have turn offs that allow you to venture into other areas without hiking. The Grand Wash Road is a perfect example of that. This allows a larger number of people to see the more out of the way places. This gives the opportunity to view even more of the incredible scenery from the comfort of your car. This was not a long diversion, less than 45 minutes.See more..

One of the three paved drives in Capitol Reef. Scenic drive and Route 24 being the others. The paved section of Notom connects to 24 just east of the Capitol Reef boundary. Very unusual geology as the road travels along the eastern edge of the reef. Scenic Road(better views) travels along the western edge. We had the time and are glad to drove down part of the road. The road eventually turns to gravel and eventually connects to the Burr Trail Road out of Boulder. Warning - 4 wd recommended for the gravel section.See more..
4.5The Hogback(26 reviews) - Great views Very safe Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Drives
Everybody has their opinion I feel very safe the road is wide with wide pull offs. Safe to get out and take pictures. We like the view of the road coming from the south. I would be very careful of young kids as there are drop offs if out of the car at pull offs. EnjoySee more..
4.5Smokey Mountain Road(19 reviews) - Be prepared, this road is not for the faint of heart or ill prepared. One mistake can have serious consequences Scenic Drives
What a Beautiful Drive, to a wonder of nature in this part of Our Wonderful Nation O'Plenty! If you take the full loop road adventure up to the Smokey Mountain and back to Big Water, you can either go Left or right at the junction. To the left will take you up a steep canyon via the rocky stream bed. To the Right will take you further east along the mountain range then up and over said mountain on a well graded steep gravel road. Once on top of this plateau from either direction you are driving on a well maintained dirt road, which actually can be driven to the connection of Holle in the Rock Road at The Devils Garden turnoff and then on NNW to Escalante. Be sure to stop in to the BLM Visitor Center at Big Water for a map and to check on road conditions. Take lots of water, food, and shelter, in the event of trouble. Don't be scared, Be Prepared, is a GREAT Mantra anywhere in Southern Utah. Be Advised, This is a Remote Drive once you leave Big Water. Cell Phone Service is less than Sketchy. Help could be hours away. Four Wheel Drive and a High Clearance Vehicle, with Off-Road Tires, and a full tank of gas is highly advised for winter and monsoon seasons. Read some of the other reviews of this area before heading up the trail. Have FUN, Be SAFE!See more..
Not sure why everyone makes a fuss about this road. I've driven this since I was a kid, and a few steep sections with bumps aren't a big deal if you know how to drive it. Reminds me of all the folks I see hiking Zion with their walking sticks, hiking boots, long sleeve shirts, belts full of water bottles, huge, sombrero-style hats, and all the other gear they think they need to hike around the area. Not that big of a deal, gang. I've even driven this in a manual Honda Civic.See more..

5.0Scenic Drive(7 reviews) - Capital Reef in a nutshell Scenic Drives
The Capital Reef scenic drive is roughly 8 miles (13 km). This gives anyone a great opportunity to view the incredible landscape. As with most scenic drives there are pull overs usually with kiosks offering information about the history, evolution and past cultures of the area. In addition these turn offs also serve as trail heads allowing you to further explore the terrain. For the avid hiker or camper the drive is the best way to access these points of interest. For those only doing the drive and are on a time restriction, the map is the best way to maximize your time here. See more..
5.0Alpine Loop Scenic Backway(6 reviews) - Tough but paved road through amazing Aspen trees and flowery meadows Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Drives
Hubby drove us along this scenic loop road twice! Because the Mt. Timpanagos Caves visitor center was closed our first time and I decided we’d drive to Midway, UT the second trip. He is great at maneuvering this type of narrow road with all its hairpin turns and such, but twice beat him up! The views are epic, the road is paved, there are several campgrounds along the way, and it connects Provo area to Heber City valley. Highly recommend this drive, but only once a trip, ha! Waterfalls and great hikes along it.See more..
5.0Utah's Patchwork Parkway(1 review) - Taking the Scenic Route Scenic Drives Hwy 143 is a BEAUTIFUL drive that connects some must-see locations in Iron County. You can travel HWY 143 from Parowan to Brian Head Resort, take a small detour to Cedar Breaks National Monument, then return to 143 and continue on to Panguitch Lake (Garfield County). You start in the adorable small town of Parowan, UT (like quintessential Americana town) and wind through the beautiful forests and rock formations along Hwy 143. There are plenty of interesting places along the way where you can stop and explore, stretch your legs, or have a picnic. A few notes on Hwy 143: *You will notice a large burn scar from the Brian Head Fire of June 2017 *During the winter the drive can get a little tricky and can require snow chains. *The S turn near the top can be a little frightening, just take it slow and enjoy the view that this curve in the road offers!See more..
