Gorgeous Promontory: AMAZING panoramic views! I ran from view to view all the way up to Rainbow Vista, but I've never experienced anything in my whole life like Bryce Point. The small hike was paved, & felt secure. I loved all the small vistas along the way, getting fun pics of cave-like depressions, & startling drop offs with interesting geology. Before I even realized it, I found myself alone on the cement oval promontory. It was nearly sunset. There are no words to describe how I became transfixed on the spot! Not simply from the amazing 360° panoramic view, but from the awe inspiring heights! I felt like lying prone on the smallish oval of cement with only waist high curved in fencing. Those with heights sensitivity beware! Someday I'll go back. I'll stand on that point with the wind in my hair & feel strong, free, ¬ afraid... because that beauty is to be absorbed & enjoyed. I was amazed at the number of wars included in this memorial starting with the War of 1812. It also included wars fought specifically in the West, as well as the wars fought during my lifetime Very peaceful atmosphere. Our veterans deserve more recognition and appreciation for their service See more..

We were passing through and wanted to get a closer look at the lake. We went in the evening and could tell it was going to be a nice sunset. Pets allowed and you pay a $5 entrance fee. It was just ok. Pretty smelly and no one was swimming. Water levels seemed really low too. Worth a stop still. See more..

    North Window Overlook image
One of the most visited viewpoints in Monument Valley, the North Window Overlook makes for the most beautiful and colorful photographs and picture postcards this side of the Grand Canyon. Located in a gap between the edges of Elephant Butte and Cly Butte which frames East Mitten Butte, it immediately recalls the many epic motion pictures that were filmed in this magnificent landscape, including She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, The Searchers, Cheyenne Autumn, Forrest Gump, A Space Odyssey, Stagecoach, My Darling Clementine, Fort Apache, How The West Was Won, Easy Rider and Once Upon A Time In The West. Even in black and white, Monument Valley's distinctive geological features stand out. The North Window Outlook provides great views of the Mittens and other buttes in the Valley. The location is best photographed at the very moment that the sun rises above the horizon. See more..
