2.0Widtsoe Ghost Town(10 reviews) - Use your time in the area for something else Ghost Towns
A local actually noted a ghost town in Widtsoe as something that could be of interest, so we ventured out one day to find this place. After quite a bit of exploring, including driving down some rocky and bumpy dirt roads, I concur with another recent comment on this site. Ain’t nothing here. We did bump into the Widstoe cemetery as we turned down one road. The next promising road just basically was a mixed enclave of folks who seem to like living in a kind of “off the grid” lifestyle. There were just a couple of old structures, but nothing along the lines of a true ghost town, and nothing worth exploring. If a Widtsoe Ghost Town is on your list, we recommend use your time on your itinerary for something else.See more..
2.0Performance Rental(5 reviews) - NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL Waterskiing & Jetskiing • Water Sports • Boat Rentals • Stand Up Paddleboarding • Kayaking & Canoeing
Made a reservation and we were told to show up 30 min early to do paperwork. We ended up sitting there waiting for jet skis to show up for over an hour. Only when I asked what the deal was they said oh sorry we got a rush. It seemed to me that they overbooked. They should have given us a heads up so we could decide to wait or move on. I would check another location if you plan on renting.See more..

Overall experience here was terrific. Staff in pro shop was friendly and courteous. Golf course was a pleasant surprise. Nice mixture of holes including a couple of fun drivable par fours. Pace of play was sluggish to start but picked up and finished in 4.5 hours. Not great but understandable for a resort course. I found it to be a fun golf course with excellent greens and very well run with a pleasant staff. I would absolutely return when in the area.See more..
2.5Monticello Lake(2 reviews) - Size matters Bodies of Water Monticello Lake is a loftily named alpine pond in a medow along the paved "shortcut" over the mountain from Monticello to the Needles district. I expected more from something listed as a destination on all the Forest Service highway signs. Maybe it was worth a stop years ago when vehicles needed radiator water after chugging up the pass, but there is so much else in the area to see and do it barely rates a glance as you pass by.See more..
2.0Piute Lake State Park(1 review) - Deserted State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
First went down a dirt road because I could see the bathrooms. Scary bathrooms. Then parked under a tree and walked down to the lake which was pretty far away. I'm guessing the water is really low. It was incredibly windy. Not much to see. Could hear birds but not see them. No cool rocks or shells or anything. Was worried my car would get stuck in the loose sand, but made it out ok. There was literally only one other person there. Too windy to do anything. Then I went further down the main road and saw some birds on that end. That's about it. Apparently you can camp there, but there are no facilities at all.See more..
2.0Bear Lake Marina Rentals(1 review) - Beautiful Lake but Bad Transaction Waterskiing & Jetskiing • Water Sports • Boat Rentals • Stand Up Paddleboarding • Kayaking & Canoeing
We enjoyed a beautiful day on Bear Lake on our vacation. Rented a Pontoon Boat and the weather could not have been more perfect. However the "kids" running the place had an issue with the credit card machine. We were told to we needed to run our credit card a second time. We complied but checked our American Express bill as soon as we returned to Florida and sure enough we were charged the balance $445.44 twice. I called and spoke to Jason and he confirmed that yes we were charged twice but that we needed to dispute with our credit card company, they cannot do refunds??? We disputed through American Express and they opened a ticket but could take up to 50 days. We called back to the Marina to verify they received the dispute. After asking for a manager it appears that whoever answers the phone is the manager and this time it was Tessa ?, she proceeded to tell me that they did not receive the funds twice and we were pretty much out of luck. All the while the phone was on speaker and kids were laughing in the background listening to our conversation. We asked who her boss was and she refused to get us any contact person other than her. Hopefully American Express will continue to fight this over charge for us but it really soured our opinion on the operations of this place. Beware and check your receipts.See more..
