- 4.5 Edams Museum (85 reviews)
-Surprisingly good
Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
The museum is in two buildings, the old town hall and an old merchants' house. These buildings are interesting by themselves. The contents of the mechants' house are what you'd expect in most Dutch towns with a history of some importance (and that's already quite good!). To be rated excellent one needs to present something unique, and I think one gets that in the town hall, where the gigantic shoes of a former inhabitant of Edam are presented, along with her painting, and a painting of an extravagantly bearded man. Set in a typical small old Dutch town environment, I was very pleased with my visit. Seeing the church tower with its bell ringers' guild finished it off. And I didn't even mention the cheese. - 4.0 Marker Museum (57 reviews)
-A breath of fresh air and beautifully designed homes and gardens
Spent < 1 hour History Museums
The two curators of this museum are from a family that has lived in Merken for some time. There are lots of glimpses of life in the past. There is a lot of information about historical costumes: what the variations relate to as far as colors, designs and occasions related to costumes. A video depicts a lot of different weather, and differences in how things worked on the island. There is a lot of hand-done stitching of various types, colors and fabrics. Very small but packed with information. Its a Must See, very easy to get to from Amsterdam and very close as well. See more..

A clock museum is not something that you see everyday, however as a clock collector, it was a must see part of our visit to Zaanse Schans. First of all, beautiful building! Very kind staff, they took the time to tell my about their exhibitions. (Temporary and permanent) Wouldn't mind an audiotour (or something similar), since there was ALOT of text/information on the walls, to the point that it was almost to much to read. See more..

- 4.0 Cultuurhistorisch Museum Texel (20 reviews)
-Much better than the average local museum. Worth a visit.
Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
While we were on the Dutch barrier island of Texel, we thought we'd at least take a look at the local history museum. Often these places are a mishmash of local artifacts without much context. But we were very pleasantly surprised at the cultural history museum on Texel. It's not a slick professionally-groomed place, but also far more than a "just a collection of stuff." A homespun happy middle ground that provided context about the rural life on Texel a hundred years ago, particularly through videos. We spent much more time there than we had planned. See more..

- 4.0 Huizer Museum (15 reviews)
-very small museum on local costume and art
Thursday: 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
"VVV Huizen "tourist info and Huizer Museum" Het Schoutenhuis" share the same white building in the village centre near the local church" Grote Kerk Huizen". The museum has a room filled with items of clothing in the local costume "Huizer Klederdracht" and upstair I saw an art exhibition combining sculptures from 1900-1930 and contemporary art. The large recidential village of Huizen has several sandy beaches on the "Gooimeer"and the village centre has the same charming converted old farmhouses similar to Laren and Blaricum. I visited the small museum on a bike trip and I would say it is worth a short visit only if you are near to it or have interest in the local costume. See more..
- 4.0 Zandvoorts Museum (14 reviews)
-Small museum. Interesting but not geared for English tourists
Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • Art Museums • History Museums
We visited this small museum last week. It was quite interesting but had very little information in English except a short video which gave the history of the place. Quite a lot (too much) of the 'museum' was given over to an art exhibition about gay pride. No problem with that but not sure we would have paid to go in if we had realised that quite so much of the museum was, in reality, an art space. See more..

There are two exhibitions about World War 2 to visit: * 'Road to Freedom' - the military side. * 'Choices in Almersdorp' - the civil side. You can visit our museum in the traditional way by looking around freely and reading the stories, but do you really want to experience the storyline as the museum team set it up? Then we definitely recommend you to book as well one of the 2 Experience Tours according to the Escaperoom concept. Discover the (local) WW2 stories in an interactive way. Fun and educational for young and old! An Experience Tour lasts 2 hours and you choose a time slot: 10:00, 12:30 or 15:00. Make sure you are present at least fifteen minutes in advance. The rest of the day (before/after the Experience Tour) you can freely look around the entire museum. Which option of visiting the museum do you choose? 1: Look around entrance (traditional museum visit) 2: Entrance Experience 'Choices in Almersdorp' 3: Entrance Experience 'Road to Freedom' Tip: book in advance See more..

In the museum you will find four historic trams and many historic buses, which can be viewed inside and outside. In a spacious hall, the museum displays a large number of photos of the trams and buses on the many lines operated by the NZH, scale models of different vehicles, signs, attributes and clothing, and even complete bus and tram stops. - 4.5 Museum Kennemerland (4 reviews)
-Lokale geschiedenis
Thursday: Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • History Museums
See more..

-Traumhafter Ort auf Texel!
Thursday: 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries • Art Museums • History Museums
See more..

-Een thuisgevoel in stilte
Speciality Museums • Natural History Museums • History Museums
In Hoogwoud, an old farm called West-Frisia is located. It is no longer used as a farm but as a museum and is able to attract visitors of all ages. Even though it no longer functions as a farm, to this day it manages to radiate a sentiment from times long gone. Once you enter the museum, it is as though time has stood still for over 150 years and you have just entered a real 19th century farm. See more..

-Leuk museumpje
History Museums
