Very informative exhibition on WW II on Texel. Also nice collection on aviation with scale models, maquettes, memorabilia and aircraft parts.

Well worth a visit
An excellent small museum devoted to the subject of Texel during the war. As a Canadian visiting the island, I very much appreciated the chance to learn about war from the perspective of the islanders, with particular emphasis on the Georgian revolt and the longer duration of the war on Texel well into late May 1945. So much history and information packed into this museum! Additionally, I really enjoyed the other exhibit on the history of flight and the Texel airport. Well done and thanks!

History of an uprising during WWII
The main exhibit is about the uprising of Georgian soldiers during WWII. The Germans had drafted some prisoners of war into fighting on their side. Eventually, these POWs rebelled against the Germans and there was a brief series of battles before the Germans were able to put down the rebellion. The people of Texel have a lot of respect for these Georgians, and this museum is mostly about this event. If you are a history buff, you will find this very interesting.
