4.5Liberty State Park(1.498 reviews) - Huge but pretty Thursday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM State Parks
We used liberty state park to access the Statue city cruises' ferry to the Statue of Liberty's, Liberty Island. GPS. Gets you to the state park just fine, but once in the park, it leads you to the visitor center, which opened at 8:00 a.m., luckily for us. The young man was frei fly and helpful. He pointed us in the right direction. The state park is huge and we easily could have missed out 9:00 a.m. ferry traversing the long and plentiful roads of the park. If you are going for a scheduled ferry, arrive early to figure out where to go. Liberty State Park was beautiful and had lots of great views of New York and Lady Liberty. See more..

Cheesquake is a beautiful amazing place! We had a great experience & would have given 5 stars, except for the bathrooms which were moldy. If I had time, I would have cleaned it myself (I like cleaning bathrooms! It's really not difficult if is cleaned regularly & have the right cleaning products.) Anyway, the park is so BEAUTIFUL, peaceful, amazing wildlife, especially birds, great location about 20 miles from the nearest beach & very close to stores and restaurants, all of the spaces are very spacious (even the smaller ones) compared to some RV parks where everyone is on top of each other, all of the staff were sooooo nice, friendly & helpful, we felt very safe in the campground... & all of this for a fair price! We will DEFINITELY stay here again (& I will bring my bathroom cleaning products with me!)See more..
4.5Washington Crossing State Park(106 reviews) - Beautiful, scenic park for a historic piece of American history Historic Sites • State Parks
December 2021 Beautiful park with lots of space to enjoy the outdoors and learn about a pivotal piece of American history. There is so much to learn here from the wonderful, informative staff, and the museum is full of artifacts and treasures from this historic time. And just across the bridge is Washington Crossing Park, which offers a very similar experience with a historic village you can tour.See more..

4.5Ringwood State Park(77 reviews) - Great hike on a hot day Thursday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM State Parks
My wife and our 22 year old son and I did a great 4+ mile hike on a hot Sunday morning. We arrived about 11am and there was ample parking ($5) . We hiked from lot A on the white trail- connected to the red trail and went past the lake ; and then kept following the red trail to the green trail and back to white - which dropped us back near lot A. It was hilly and rocky but the trails are well marked and well maintained. There is a beautiful garden on the grounds and the restrooms were open. Masks a must on the public grounds. It’s worth a visit. See more..
4.5Parvin State Park(67 reviews) - Perfect family outing, bring boots for the swampy parts State Parks • Parks
While the main trail is a circle around the Parvin Lake, there are many little trails where one can get lost and enjoy some peace and quiet. It is a beautiful park. I was there just after parks were reopening so there were no bathrooms and the campgrounds were closed. That said, it was beautiful and we enjoyed the extra serenity on the backroads that are around the lake. You can learn some history, too, as the park is part of WWII history, for good or for bad. It was built by the Civilian Conservations Corps, but also served as a P.O.W. camp. You can learn about the history on the main trains that circle the lake. Make sure to stop at the amish markets on the way out for some nice treats. Spend as little or as long as you like.See more..
4.5Fort Mott State Park(65 reviews) - Explore Thursday: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM State Parks • Parks
Remember visiting this place in the late 90’s as a child and recently got to go back and explore again. A lot of the places that are locked up use to be open for exploring way back when but there is still a great amount to see. Worth a stopSee more..
Last night my friends and I went on the night hike. At first I was a little skeptical, but once we got into the hike, I was so glad that I went. Lynne was the best guide. She made sure everyone was safe, we moved at a pace comfortable for everyone, she was very knowledgeable about sounds in the dark and possible animal sightings, and she made the hike enjoyable for everyone. If you have never tried a night hike, it is a must!! I promise that you will not be sorry!!See more..
This river front park has 30 miles of trails and amazing views of NYCity. There are some parking areas, so I recommend you choose carefully according to the activities you want to do. We parked at the Englewood picnic area which is in the middle of the park. From there we took the path south towards Fort Lee. It is a quite manageable walk during which you can enjoy amazing views of the George Washington bridge and the city. This walk is by the river, but then it is totally worth it to go up to Fort Lee. More great views! There are a lot of picnic areas, the park is very clean, but very crowded. Some areas are dog and bike friendly, but others are not. So research carefully before you go. See more..

4.0Stephens State Park(37 reviews) - Great trails! Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
I bring my seven year old nephew here often. He loves to look for turtles and frogs along the stream and stop at the playground on our way out! It is a great park for people of all ages and it's never too crowed. They have grills and picnic tables along the water for anyone to use and you can stop in the office for an updated map of the park. They are always super helpful. Thinking of camping here next weekend! If you're in the area, definitely stop in. You can see some great wildlife, including black bears, hit the trails, cook out-enjoy nature, and even stay for a few nights!See more..
Quiet, beautiful little beach. Swimming allowed, they have a lifeguard on duty. Perfect for children, and it had a lot of children at the lake when we were there! The bathrooms are open, and there was a food truck for snacks (hotdogs, etc). The parking lot to the left of the lake had canoes, and there was horseback riding on some of the trails. There is a trail that goes around the lake, easy flat hike, we did part of it, starting from the right side of the parking lot. There were some larger groups which took some picnic tables on the grass. Beautiful day.See more..

Just siting here today looking at their wonderful water fountain in the middle of the lake. Very surreal, calming and cathartic. Love this park for the benches, landscaping and people watching. You can jog, stroll or have a catch. Beautifully manicured with different foliage blooming each month. Very well maintained.See more..
First timer .. have heard a lot about this trail and tried it today. We loved it . Did a 10K run and the trail way was so even. Nicely made. Lots of them biking, running, dog walking, and fishing. Road was a bit wet in some spots because of rain yesterday. Please avoid if there is continuous rain overnight. Trail keeps going and going for miles. Perfect for biking without traffic. There were small fly’s in the air , because of water. Make sure you wear a goggles and if possible a cap .. parking is less. Wish they made a bigger parking lot . Only 7-8 cars could park , in the place we came in. There are also other parking spots all around the trail. Thumbs up overall..See more..
Jenny Jump state forest is a place to meander. As we've been able to do many hikes in New Jersey, we took this one up in mid-July when we had a free weekend. The park is named after a girl who either fell or jumped to her death, we don't really know why. You can stop at rest rooms and a park ranger station before heading in. You can hike a loop to Ghost Lake and back out in several hours. Lots of families and groups use the park for a camping ground, so expect to walk around, through, and near other groups throughout the hike. While it's certainly not busy, it is also not isolated. There are features throughout the park that you may want to explore, especially the glacier erratic and at least one tree growing from a rock. The lake is peaceful though now deep with lily pads. At some of the high points, you can see other favorite like Mt. Tammany.See more..
