On the way into Newark on Route 21 (McCarter Hway) are beautiful murals painted on the walls of the train viaduct structure. The murals are part of Newark's effort to revitalize dilapidated parts of the city, The murals are nearly 1.4 miles long in an area that is a particularly dismal area of roadway. People in their cars are literally slowing down to take photos.See more..

5.0Tilt Museum(6 reviews)from $21.33 - Set Aside a Full Day Thursday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM Art Galleries • Art Museums • Children's Museums
If you’re looking for something fun and affordable at the mall I highly recommend this! We were limited on time and wanted to give our children a break from driving on our travels. As we were trying to figure out how to take pictures, our 18 yr old son was a little negative saying the pictures didn’t look legit. We told him to take a positive pill and kept going with our 14 yr old daughter. We were there for 1-2 hrs having a blast trying different poses at different stations. They even show you where to stand for the perfect direction. It was such a blast and I can’t wait to have many of these put in canvas!See more..
Talk about a Hidden Gem in New Jersey. I Googled African art museums and this one came up. I was kind of skeptical at first because it seemed like a church which it's a museum in a church but they have a lot of extraordinary pieces. If you're in the New York area I highly recommend that you take a visit to this Museum as it was only 10 miles from the Bronx. For what the museum lacks in size it makes up in the content of its exhibits.See more..
5.0Pascack Historical Society Museum(4 reviews) - Don't miss this little gem of a museum tucked on a side street. Even nicer since the renovation. Thursday: Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Art Museums • History Museums
The Pascack Historical Society recently went through a renovation to improve the displays, reduce the clutter and showcase all the beautiful artifacts at the museum. They put the displays together to show life at different times in the Pascack Valley and how we have changed our way of living over the last 200 years. They have an interesting set of artifacts displayed nicely with good signage, well-lit room that has been freshly painted, interesting stories and a very friendly dedicated staff. The best part is that it is free. It is a nice way to spend the day if you like local history and being with a staff that cares.See more..
Undeniably great. The art you'll see and touch and artists you'll meet. Photography and paintings, sculptures, dance, and more. There's even coffee.See more..
5.0Luna Parc(3 reviews) - THE number one 'bucket list' place to see in art environment castles. Art Museums An American Art Castle! Seeing 'mother nature' as another medium when in the hands of a master 'craftsman'! Imagine a former 600 sq. ft hunting cabin morphing into a 5-6000 sq. ft., fifteen room, eleven level art environment castle deep in the woods of NJ!? Ricky is the product of some very serious 'old-country' family genes, both artistic and as a craftsman! Spending time with him left us thinking how his 'mind's-eye' sees his Luna Parc. It's a living expression of who he is and it's his muse! I have experienced thirty five art environments, quite a few rock, brick and concrete castles. Ricky has created one without using the traditional mediums. Ricky is the only current active environmentalist we have seen still creating on such a scale. Please note: Ricky invites visitors twice a year. See his website for more details.See more..

4.0Belskie Museum of Art & Science(2 reviews) - Nice little museum and gallery near the library Thursday: Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries • Speciality Museums • Art Museums The Belskie Museum is a local museum specializing in local, student and international artists. It is more of a local museum and is only open on the weekends. It is more of studio art than a roving show. They have student shows from the local town schools, college shows and local artists shows and showcase local talent. It is easy to miss and a pleasure to see.See more..

The Carlstadt Historical Firehouse Museum is located in the middle of the town of Carlstadt and houses many items from the town's history including old yearbooks, past events of the town, army uniforms and World War items. Town events and past celebrations memorabilia line the walls and shelves as well as town artifacts since the 1800's. The staff are all long time residents and are welcoming to you when you walk in and are ready to share the knowledge of the history of the town with you. It is a great place for local residents to know their town's history and just an enjoyable place to to spend the afternoon. The only problem is that the museum is only open from 2:00pm-4:00pm the last Sunday of every month so plan your trip accordingly.See more..
