We finally got enough snow to venture out and try snowshoeing for my trail sister’s birthday as we are avid hikers looking for new challenges. I called the day before to confirm some information and spoke to a lovely gentleman, Tim. I purchased a trail pass and rental package for a minimal amount. It was beyond worth the money. We set out at 7am because we live 2 hours south. We arrived early, which I advise. The staff showed us how to gear up and we were on our way to the trail. There was one easy trail open, the Red Monument Trail, that guided us up to High Point, 4 mile loop. Trail was groomed and perfectly marked. It was not super easy, but surely fun! The views were spectacular and you can forget that you are in New Jersey. You should be prepared for the weather, layers and good boots. Be waterproof! And warm. We arrived at the center at 9am and 2 degrees!!!!! Don’t worry, we warmed up quickly. Get out there and try something new or familiar. It was well worth the trip! See more..
